Has anyone else noticed that Target seems to be carrying fewer and fewer brands of items, especially in their grocery sections? Last night was just one more straw on the camels back for me and I wonder how many straws are left for me.
I have gotten myself down to one brand of Greek yogurt that I enjoy. Target was carrying them for $1.03 until last week or so. This week, I went in, prepared with store coupons for that particular item, to go buy a bunch of them. There is not even a spot for them anymore!
This is not the only brand they're forcing me to go elsewhere to purchase, they don't have the right brand of sugar (I only use pure cane for my frosting, nothing else will hold up as well) and they don't carry the type of individual sized fruit cups that I use.
I had to go to WalMart last night for my yogurt. I hate going to WalMart, but they at least carry enough brands of things for me to choose from at a decent price and for several other things I need to go to Cub, even though I have to be really picky about the cashiers that I go through due to their *ahem* customer service through the lines, especially on days that I have to use my supplemental food card. So many closed minded women working there, plus the ones with ok attitudes may bruise my fruit. There really are only 2 or 3 good ones at that store.
I prefer going to Target (and will be calling their corporate to complain later) because it's never as crowded, the people working there are decent and I don't have to deal with the crabby customers that seem to be in abundance at WalMart.
My mother was even having so many issues with Cub, she's contemplating going all to Target and Walmart for her groceries. She actually mentioned she wishes there was a Rainbow in Elk River so we can shop there, and I agree.
Have you noticed the small changes at Target that has been going on for the last few years?
I may just start going back to WalMart again...

I do almost all of my shopping at Target (grocery, household, etc). I have certain things that I like to buy from Trader Joe's that I know Target doesn't carry or I like more from there, like: corn salsa, tilapia and sushi. I did see that Target started carrying Naan and was excited about that.
I haven't noticed any changes that have affected me at all. I guess I just roll with the punches. Stores change. Inventory changes. Out with the old and in with the new.

I guess I haven't noticed any changes either. If I don't see it I'll go find it somewhere else. I have been shopping at Wal Mart for the past month though only because one opened down the road from me and it's convenient...probably why I haven't noticed too much.

I shop at Walmart. Neither Walmart or Target carry my 6 yr olds yogurt they also do not carry store brand bread that is not dairy free. I am use to shopping at multiple stores so if one store stops carrying it it is not that big of a deal becuase I will go to another store anyways. I do know with shopping at 2 different Walmarts they carry different things, one store only has one "flavor" of the spaghetti sauce I use, the other one has 5 different flavors.
I also know from previously working at a store that product comes in and out of the shelves all the time and you can try to request something but alot of the times it doesn't work. It might not be the stores problem for not carrying that product anymore, it might be the product, they might have seen that they are not gaining enough business to have there product there, maybe they are throwing away more then what they are selling because it goes old.
I even go to 2 or 3 different Cubs just to find the yogurt my kid wants. The one closest to me only carrys key lime, the one in Riverdale I think might have the vanilla, the one in Northtown has peach. And the last time I actually shopped at Rainbow they cut their supply to half the amount of his yogurt and I no longer go there for that.

I have noticed that Target doesn't carry the brands I'm looking for most of the time in the grocery section. That's why I shop at Rainbow. I love my Rainbow foods! But even then it takes them FOREVER to get new brands in that I have new coupons for. *shrug* ticks me off but not enough to make me shop at Cub! LOL

It all varies from location to location. My area SuperTarget has always carried fewer brands of most items than Cub (or I assume Rainbow). I shop Target if I only need basic items that I know they carry. I shop Cub sales--Target doesn't have as many food item sales.

The majority of my groceries come from Cub, and usually with their sales. I like to go to Target for a few things, but they're becoming fewer each time I go, so I'll just have to stock up at Cub more when I see the sales. I posted my complaint on their fb page.

Have you tried the new Danon Greek yogurt with 2X the amount of protein? My husband was an oikos fan too until he found this one. He says it actually tastes better. Chobani is cheapest, at least that I have found... at Sams Club. It's about 9dollars and something for 12 of them. I mostly shop Cub, but there are certain brands that I buy only at Target or only at Walmart Super... so I usually have to go lots of places... love the salsa in the target brand, love the tortilla chips in Sams club/Walmart brand... Sargento Mickey Mouse cheese is only at Walmart, but the Grilled steak flavored dutch chips are only at Cub... and even though theres probably no difference, I prefer Cub's milk.
I'm not a big rainbow fan unless they are having their cereal sale... I find most of their stuff overpriced comparitively, and I REALLY dislike their produce... I only buy my fresh stuff at Cub... Meats too.

I used to eat the regular Yoplait stuff, but it got too sweet for me and I started trying Greek yogurts, finding the Dannon Oikos was the most pleasant flavored with Fage being a close second to my tastebuds. I've heard that the Yoplait Greek isn't the healthier stuff as it's not made with the same process and fillered more than some brands with gelatin and milk protein concentrate. I may be having a lot of sugar for breakfast with my Oikos, but it hasn't been bothering me too much and I only have one a day. the Dannon stuff doen't have more protein than other Greek yogurts, if you read the label. I tried Chobani, didn't care for it. I've done a lot of research over pre-made products in the last year.
