Why is it important to use these facilities? •AARP says 75% of Americans age 45 and older take an average of four medications on a daily basis. •A report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimates there are more than seven million people abusing prescription drugs. •The Partnership for a Drug Free American says every day, nearly 2,500 teenagers use prescription drugs for the first time to get high. Thanks for the info! I so often have pain meds that go over the date or some of my son's meds don't get used quickly enough.

I too, have meds that go over the date or meds don't get used quickly enough, and meds I get taken off of, and put on a different one or dropped off of totally. So I was really glad for this news item. Now, I just need to find a free sharps disposal location, and not have to pay for the 27 containers I have been saving over the years, waiting to find such a place. My clinics and pharmacy won't take them for me.
