We go to NE dental in Vadnais Heights (Hwy 96 - Centerville Rd). I like Dr Cmiel and they were really good w/ DS. Dr. Annika Simon at Maplewood Dental goes to our church and has 2 young children, she is really nice, but I don't know about her as a dentist: www.maplewooddental.com/OfficeInfo/AboutOurDoctors.aspx

Dr. Bruce Haglund at Dental Health of Maplewood I have been going to Dr. Bruce for many, many years, and highly recommend him and the hygenists. We go to Chalet Dental which is either Roseville or almost Roseville. It might be barely into St. Paul.
They are GREAT! I love all the staff - everyone is very kind and nurturing from the dentists and hygeninists right to the receptionists. They are marvelous with kids too! My son actually LOVES going to the dentist and when we drive by asks when he "gets to" go next.

Sorry - just noticed this!
I have been numbed up but not sedated, but have never needed or asked to be sedated. So I guess I don't know.

Northview Dental in Shoreview (Hwy 96 and Lexington Avenue (just behind strip mall on Hwy 96). Have used them for since 1995 when moved to MN. My dad's side of the family that has lived here all their lives here has used them for decades. They all have terrible teeth, unlike me, and aren't particularly fond of the dentist. They really worked hard with my then 3 year old daughter when she had to go to the dentist, giving her big sunglasses to wear and having a big prize basket for her to pick from. she loves the dentist and says it's her favorite doctor to go to. Who says that. So maybe it will be a "good fit" for you too. I don't know if they do sedating as I've never needed it and th worst I've had is one crown for first time ever this summer at age 44. But I bet they do. They do a lot of work on pretty severe stuff, and a lot of pretty extensive cosmetic dentistry. They are high tech with cameras so they can show you on a TV screen over your head what they are looking at and why you need whatever, so you get to see it. and know that you really do need X versus they just tell you.

Ours is in Highland park, so might be too far for you. When we look for docs or services we often consult Checkbook. I think that was how DH found our dentist.
