Lately when dd eats ice cream a little while afterwards she says her tummy hurts. So we've been trying to back away from it for a little while. Anyone have any idea what to do or ideas? We tried not giving her any for a handful or more weeks then she had some today she said the same thing. B4 she was having it rt b4 bed and today she had it around noon.
I am puzzled.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated & Thanks.

does any other dairy give her problems? just wondering if lactose sensitivity could be the cause?

Perhaps it's one of the ingredients that's in the brand of ice cream you're letting her have that's not in other things. Is it just after ice cream or does she show discomfort after anything else? I'm assuming you don't give her more than a couple of scoops at a time?
People can have sensitivities to many things, milk products, corn items (which is in everything processed), soy, artificial sweeteners, just to name a few that might be in the ice cream.
Keep an eye on her after different foods to see her reaction. It would be odd to only have this reaction after the one type of food. Allergies can creep up on people as they age.

I cannot eat ice cream from Dairy Queen. Never have been able to as it gives me "bathroom issues." I have no other lactose issues so there must be something in THEIR product that doesn't like me. Try changing brands and see if it goes any better. Or - skip the ice cream all together.

She has had the generic Our Family brand ice cream, Culvers ice cream and complained after eating both. No other symptoms, doesn't complain when eating anything else. Wouldn't surprise me if she got allergies b/c her brother has them. And yes it is usually only 1-2 scoops Cake if she has any at home.

I am waiting to see what happens after she has DQ ice cream when my dad takes my kids to DQ one day when they are off during MEA break. Though my dad says he won't order her any.

I have been having to same problem. I am usually fine when drinking milk unless I have more then one glass. I am usually also fine with cheese and other dairy. I think ice cream affects me more because you are consuming a larger quantity then drinking a glass of milk or having some cheese in your dinner. Some ice creams also affect me a lot worse then others. Dairy Queen ice cream hates me as well as Byerlys ice cream. I am sometimes fine eating others but I have started being very careful how much of it I eat.
I would say she has a lactose sensitivity because I am pretty sure that is what is going on with me.

Tonight she complained about her tummy hurting after she had milk, cheese. So I might get a thing of the lactose free milk next time I go to the store. Next time we go to the dr I will talk to them about this issue w/ her.

I'm not sure, but I think this is Lactose Intolerance, which means the sugars in dairy (the milk) didn't digest good in your tummy, and it gave her stomach pains. Too much ice cream may be the reason.
