For the latest addition in "As My Step-Daughter's World Turns"
After months for waiting for the trial and a month+ waiting for the verdict, my step-daughter was found not guilty! (She was indicted for assault on a vulnerable adult (her sister)) It was a gross misdemeanor w/ up to 90 days in jail. If she had gone to jail we would have had to take the kids. The basic story was that DSD1 gave DSD2 a concussion for slamming her head into the floor and Mom waited 3 days to take DSD2 to the hospital for help and to report the incident.
I'm just glad that this is over! DSD's mom is a huge liar and we are glad the judge saw through her, since DSD1 waived her right for a jury trial! (In fact, the judge told DSD's attorney that "Mom's full of shit!)
After the relief of the verdict, I was really sad that DSD1's Mom really sabotaged their relationship. :-( She has to have a full hystorectomy (another long story) next month and she can't even grieve with her mom.

Oh my, what a nightmare for everyone involved. Glad to hear that your DSD was exonerated. Sounds like a horrible situation all around .... what a relief to have it over and done with.

Amen, Renee! I was sweating this one. Our last gaurdianship of the grandkids wasn't the most successful. It was very gratifiying to see her mom caught in her own lies for a change.
When asked why she waited three days to take in DSD2, she replied, "I had to calm down." If I had been the judge I would have rolled my eyes and said, "Seriously? Really?"

Thanks Sharon! It is so sad that she lost her mom through all this. That has to really hurt her in a way I can't imagine.
