It's easy to tell that DH and I come from different generations.....now that #2 is on the way, we can't agree on a name. DD was named 4 months into my pregnancy, and we didn't know her gender. I still like the boy name we had chosen, BUT my aunt named her dog that!! (Keagan)
Middle name for a boy will be James Middle name for a girl will be Caroline or Ann
My Picks: Boy-Bennett, Henry, Jack Girl- Harper, Cecelia, Adeline
DH's picks: Boy- James Robert (call him Jim Bob!)
Girl- Phoebe
He doesn't like my names, I don't like his.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks Gals!

Names are hard, but something I think you both need to agree on. I wouldn't worry too much. DS didn't have a name for an hour after birth as we went through our short list to pick.
I would start writing out lists and keep talking about it, but not stress about it. Try different names out loud with first middle and last and see how they sound/flow.
As a note I think Adeline is too close to your DD's name (IMO) even if you pronounce it Add-a-line instead of Add-a-lynn, people will still pronounce it "lynn".

My girlfriend bought pink and blue post it notes. They come up with a name and write it on a matching color and post it on their wall. No luck yet but it's a fabulous idea

Dh and I had opposite name disorder as well. We agreed on ds1. We had big trouble with the twins. By the ti e they were born we had a short list of names on or the other didn't hate. The babes were 3 hours old before we agreed.

I think about Adeline being really close to Madelyn as well. I've told DH that we could have a Maddy and an Addie. He said no. LOL....I love the post it note idea! I thought we had come to agreement on a girl name, (Violet) But he informed me that he changed his mind. He's such a man. I am really stuck on Bennett. (it's my mom's surname) DD shares her Middle name with MIL, so I want the next one to be named after my family.

I have also heard of people waiting until the baby was born to name them......maybe once we inform all the family of the uncoming arrival, they'll help us too!!

I think that having family connections is great. Maybe you could keep working on Bennett using that angle? Or start looking at middle names for boys and girls from your family.
My brother somehow convinced my SIL to name my nephew after his favorite retired baseball player....I was shocked she agreed to it, but I think she picked my niece's name.
You have plenty of time to figure it out and who knows you could change your mind after he/she arrives. My parents had named me Deborah Anne and my brother David Arthur and were planning to do either Douglas Alden or Daniel Alden and my youngest brother was born and he was not a Douglas or Daniel so they took about a day and ended up with Thomas Chase. I wouldn't worry too much about finding the "perfect" name at this stage in the game.

We had Bennett picked out for this baby and I was so relieved that we had finally picked a name and AGREED on it, and then a week later, DH informed me that he didnt like it anymore and we had to keep searching! Ugh! Its so frustrating!

We took the family route for both kids. When we had it down to 2 first names I looked up the meaning of the names and that decided it. DH did not have any objections to the fianlists though. DD is names after her great grandmother (who was alive until she was 9 I think and middle name from 4 other relatives (rosceil, rosemanry, rosella, and rose) so Angela Rose. We has talked about a boy being Alexander Michael, but by the Time DS came along, DH decided it was too long. I always like Michael (and it is my dad's middle name), but we didn't want Michael Meyer as his name -- so it became the middle name. First name was narrowed down to Dalton (my dad had bother with that name that died as child) and DD like Evan-- DH was fine with either-- after I looke dup meaning of names-- i went with Evan-- so Evan Michael.

I love Bennett and Henry. Your dh has weird taste! Jim bob? Ewww
Do what I do and pick a name saying you feel it's the one and start calling it by that name. Dh fell for it twice already and I am getting my way this time too, hahaha, well...he picks horrible names!

I love the name Emma as well, but we have a niece named Emilee, and Emma just too close.. I found this name in a book, and LOVED it....DH not so much..... (Henley)
Why does it seem as if it were easier the first time around???

Henley is pretty but I couldn't use it- I think of the shirts that everyone wore back in the 90's. I think that BabyCenter has a sibling name area, check it out! DH agreed to DD1's name no problem but he never agreed on names for DD2 nor DD3. He just told me that if he hadn't agreed to a name by the time she was born that I could name her whatever I wanted. So I did! =) I love the family connections, too. My girls' middle names are all connected to family members in a few ways.

I hear you! I had such a hard time thinking of names when I was pg with my second. I was pretty far along before I finally came up with something I was ok with.....and that was by accident. Watching a show DH was watching and they said a particular name and I thought "I kinda like that". Changed it a little but that's how he ended up with his name.

DH and I did some talking, and I think we came to agreement that we can both agree on.
He really wants to represent his SD (step dad) in a baby boy's name, which is where the Jim Bob came from. I agreed to James Gray. (Gray is his SD middle name) And my FIL and DH's name is James.
Girl- we agreed on Cecelia Caroline.
I know this can change anytime over the next 30 weeks, but it's a start.
