So that you know when to vote: State general election: November 6, 2012 Most polling places open at 7:00 a.m.; a few polling places in small townships located outside the eleven-county metropolitan area may open as late as 10:00 a.m. All polling places close at 8:00 p.m. Where do you vote: pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/Your vote counts, if you don't vote you can't complain! You can register same day with an appropriate form of id. Your driver's license with the correct address should be good enough, but if you don't have that or your id is not current, check for additional forms to bring here: www.sos.state.mn.us/index.aspx?page=204

DS actually looks foward to going with to vote. He asked me the other day what day do we get to vote and then we talked about what we are voting for.

I am debating on whether I take DS along or not....school and polling place are in opposite directions and I have to vote before work due to class in the evening. Hoping the lines aren't too long.

It's nice because you can also go on line and see your actual ballot -- that way you can research judges or local candidates you might not have heard much about yet. I found one at myballotmn.sos.state.mn.us/Default.aspx

The poll finder link I put up top gets you to your ballot also. Most people running have a direct link on your sample ballot online to their website.

My daughter is voting for popcorn and a movie. The other choice was playing games. 2nd grade politics, gotta love them!

Can I just mention that my DD2 fell apart crying this morning when she realized she's too young to vote? I actually took some video it was so hysterical. I explained to her (she's 4) that you have to be 18 to vote, 16 to drive etc. She was inconsolable. But then at the polling location she held my ballot and got to put it into the ballot box, so now she's feeling better.

Check to see if your polling place changed. If you haven't moved, you shouldn't have to register again. Some polling locations changed this year.
