Possible Scenario if you have a membership to Sams or Costco or know someone who has one that would go shopping with you for the stuff the week before -- Buy the following: a gigantic Bone-in Spiral Cut Pre-Cooked Ham (or two smaller ones) that you only have to rewarm if you want it warm; Put criss-cross pattern on it and put as many or as little cloves in it as you like (cloves can be intense flavor for some); Spiral cut hams can be sliced off easily and put onto platter and eaten warm or cold -- great if you have everyone arriving at different times; 1-2 $4-5 dollar bag of dinner (24? or 48 count) rolls from Costco or Sams; Can be pre-ordered from their bakery or usually even picked up on the fly for a party - Freeze rolls for use later at the party; While at Sam's or Costco, buy two big desserts already made -- like a carrot cake or a red velvet cake (so huge that unless they are big guys who split half a cake for themselves you will have left-overs, or large package of cookies - something that you would like to make if you had the time -- but wouldn't be able to do it or would screw it up like I would (I cannot bake unless you want to gag on it; Cooking is another story - really good at that . Make a Lasagne size pan or two of cheesy-mashed potatoes that you make a day ahead warming in the oven when people are to arrive (these actually taste better a day old); Have mustard, mayonnaise and other condiments fore people to put with the ham and buns; Buy the drinks of soda on sale, bottled water and make coffee; Have creamer and sugar and that's about it for drinks; Ask everyone else to bring a side dish to pass that is ready when they arrive at your home other than possible re-warming in oven or best if can be re-warmed in microwave as you will have other things going in oven; If they ask what you would like them to bring (tell them a side dish, or something slightly healthy, or the desert of their choice; Or if they ask to bring something specific they like to make, say sure, whatever). Paper plates and silverwear can be cheaply bought at Sams/Costco as well or even in smaller quanitites at dollar store or Party America on clearance or cheaply in clear or white.
