I use the McCormick seasoning for slow cookers called savory pot roast and mix it with a cup of water. I just pour it over the roast, carrots, and potatoes. I cook it all day on low.

I use coke when I bake a ham...man is it bomb! That sounds yummy! I'll have to try it next time I make a ham.

Thanks Christine, I'll have to look into that! And yeah, when I bake a ham, pour one can of coke over and cook it at a low temp (like 350) for about 4-5 hours, basting every hour or so. It melts, its so tender!

I always use a can of coke. Place frozen roast in crockpot, add can of coke, top with veggie and cook all day. The coke makes the roast really tender and no it doesn't taste like coke.

Mmm, I might have to try the root beer. I usually use beef stock, throw in the roast, carrots and potatoes with a sliced onion and minced garlic. If I don't have stock, I'll add water. I put in all the solid ingredients first, add the onion and garlic on top of it, smearing the garlic on the roast, then add stock to the top of the roast. I usually have to use my large slow cooker because I always make enough for leftovers. Yum! I cook it on high for 6-8 hours, until the roast is tender enough to pull apart with a fork.

I like to brown my roast on all sides first. I was xooking mine in the oven using a roasting bag with seasoning that comes with it, but now I love my crockpot. I cut up potatoes and carrots and put in the bottom, add the roast, cut up an onion and put on top and on the sides, stir in about a cup of water with some seasoning from the bag mix or make my own and pour on top, let cook on low for about 8 hours depending on the size and how fast your crock pot cooks.
