So I was thinking of getting some type of tablet for DS1 for Christmas. He's almost 8 and uses my iPhone when ever we are traveling in the car. I was thinking of getting a Kindle Fire or something along that line.
I know atleast one other MoM who was thinking the same thing. What are your thoughts? Is 8 too young to have that responsibility?
I want something he can grow with and use for a long time. Any suggestions?

How responsible is he with the things he has now? If you were to buy him something expensive & breakable would he take care of it?

He would. He's had his digital camera for almost a year and is very careful of it. He takes really good care of all of his toys so I don't think that would be an issue.

I'd say it depends on that. If he has shown that he can be responsible with other items that he owns, I would go for it.
DS is only 5 right nwo but he is hard on his toys and breaks almost all of his cars, etc. I definitely wouldn't trust him with something that expensive that would break until he could show me that he can take care of his other toys first.

If you think he will take good care of it I would say go for it! And fyi I have a kindle fire and it doesn't ask for passwords when purchasing stuff...or I just haven't figured out how to turn one on if there is one...I had the little one accidently buy something for 99 cents because I wasn't watching.

I was wondering about a tablet for my DS.
Does anyone have a preschooler with an Innotab or Leappad?
DS is super careful with our Ipad and loves playing with it, just trying to decide if we splurge and get him his own device or just let him use ours. I really liked the Nabi that Apryll posted about but it is $200 and I would like to get all his gifts for about $150.

We are surprising DD1 with a Kindle Fire for Christmas this year. She is 9. She LOVES to read but also play games. Both my DDs want iPads but those are too far out of the budget!

Dara I don't think I updated you but I decided I am going to go with the Nabi. My ex's sister & cousin both bought them for their kids and they LOVE them. His cousin's son has dropped his on the floor twice and it hasn't caused any issues.

Thanks Apryll. The online reviews of the Nabi look good. Just not sure if a tablet is what we want to do for DS with already having an ipad that he uses (not his, but he gets some time most days)
