My gma gives my family individual gifts and I am trying hard to figure out what to get her for Christmas. Note: she is a widow. I got her a pic I took, crossword puzzle book (she loves to do those), a chocolate bar. I am not sure what else to get her. I want to get her something food related so she doesn't have to make a big old meal for just herself. I know she is near: Panera, Papa Murphy's, DQ, Baker's Square, grocery store. She does like to: read, watch tv, watch Jeopardy, shop, go out to eat. She does not drive. I don't do freeways.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks much.

She also likes to: go to the Orchestra Hall, the Guthrie, shop at Christopher and Banks.

Why don't you make cute little coupons saying you will come cook for her one night? If you know her likes gift cards are always good with a homemade card.

An idea would be a gc for a restaurant near by her home. I might make her an ornament w/ my kids' picture in it.

From experience my grandma (85) doesn't like restaurants like Panera, noodles, etc. where you are not waited on, she said she gets nervous carrying the food to her own table and she is not very steady and if she is paying to go out to eat she wants to be served and cleaned up after. So if I were in your shoes I would do Baker's Square.

Thanks. My gf gave me an idea of a journal w/ letters or nice notes to her from everyone in my family (the 4 of us). I made her an ornament w/ my kids' pictures in from school this year.

Good ideas! I always hear that "consumable" stuff is good for people who are older. One year we got my DH's grandma a gift certificate to Byerly's because she LOVES that store. My MIL took her and they went through and she got to pick out some gourmet food that she normally wouldn't splurge on. We've also gotten her meal "kits" like from Tastefully Simple or other places that have easy-to-make meal ideas. Otherwise "forever" stamps or a gift certificate to wherever she gets her hair done might be appreciated as well.

My dh likes to give consumable gifts to my gma, my parents b/c if they want something they get it themselves. I forget the grocery store near her place.
