The only thing I ever get to work is tons of cranberry juice paired with a cranberry herbal supplement! 100% cranberry juice, unsweetened is the best but I can't handle it so I get the mixed kind with apple, grape or raspberry. I should say I haven't tried or seen any meds that treat them, just make the symptoms better. Let me know if anyone finds an OTC that works on treating them. I get them about every 3-4 months it seems. On my next yearly visit I'm going to ask for a scrip with refills!!!

I've gotten them constantly my entire life. I've had 2 bladder surgeries and still continue to get them :/ Although I've found several ways to reduce them: 1. I try to drink 100% cranberry juice with no sugar added at least once a week. It's verrryyyy tart so I usually have to dilute it and chug it down 2. Don't take bubble baths or use any scented soaps 3. Don't hold my bladder, make sure that I get to the bathroom right when I have to 4. Always go pee right after having sex
Since I've been following those I haven't had an infection in almost 2 years (knock on wood).
I was told by my doctor previously that nothing OTC would treat the problem, but they could make the symptoms better. You can go online and do an e-visit if you have a MyChart which only costs $35 (better than a $130 urgent care visit!) And the last rx I got was only about $10.

The only thing that has worked for me and it was at the very first thought that I MIGHT be getting a UTI was 100% cranberry juice. I chug it all day. The over the counter stuff usually has cranberry extract but I really don't think it does the same thing.
Basically what the two ladies said above me, especially Apryll.
