I will be attempting to roast my very first turkey this Christmas...and I'm scared!! I've managed to escape doing it so far, but this year I can't. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's nasty DRY turkey!
Please help this mama out with your turkey tips! Recipes, tips, do's and don't's are much appreciated!
Thanks ladies!

I make sure I use a turkey roasting bag and the turkey has one of those things that pop out when it's done. Never cook it as long as the directions say, It will be dry for sure.

Do you stuff it with anything, or just put the turkey in the bag and cook?

I'm not much help but one year my Dad stuffed it with onions (quartered) that turkey was the moistest turkey I have ever eaten! He also uses a roasting bag.

I cook mine on the grill, but it would work in the oven, too. I always be sure to brine my turkey 2 days in advance. I take the thawed turkey and place it in a mixture of sea salt, water and thyme. Gives it great flavor and helps lock in the moisture. Good luck!

I make my own stuffing and stuff some of it in the bird and cook the rest in a seperate pan. IF you stuff the bird make sure you don't overstuff it.

I use a Turkey bag and smother the whole thing with butter!!!! Personally I think cooking the stuffing in the turkey is nasty, but that's JMO.

I peal the skin up and put butter between the skin and meat, then I fill the turkey with an onion and green apples (depending on size 2 or 3), put salt and pepper on top, cover with tinfoil and cook at 350. Pulling the tinfoil off about 45 minutes till the turkey is done to brown the outside. I just cooked a 22 lb turkey on Saturday and they said it was nice and moist, it was juicy and not dry at all.

I put onion, garlic cloves, celery and poultry herbs from cub inside my turkey. I have a huge roasting pan, just tent with tinfoil and baste every 30 mins or so. Keep plenty of water in the bottom of the pan, about an inch or so.
