I am 16 wks 6 days along....I feel pretty good, for the most part, thanks to Zofran.....Sleep is lacking...as expected....I got the best Christmas Present....I felt the baby move for the first time on Christmas Eve.... here is where the rant comes....
My FAMILY in Law- NEVER EVER EVER EVER asks about the baby. There is no, how are you feeling, when are you due, when do you find out what you're having. NEVER. Now, I should say my in-laws, cause my FIL is involved, and asks....he doesn't call me just for that, but when we talk he asks....
My MIL was not gung-ho from the beginning. She had a hard time with "the news" and SIL, well that's another story. We're not really friends, basically we only chat when we see each other 4x a year. (she lives 10 mins away)
So they don't ask about the baby, which to me means they don't care. ( TO ME IT MEANS THAT!)
Secondly, DH is at work tonight, and I was looking at baby names, found a few I liked, posted them on his FB. Well, MIL decided she needed to give her input...that she didn't like them and that it was our childs name not a fashion trend....well duh. I didn't think I needed everyone approval on the name of OUR baby. Besides that, she hasn't even shared the news that she's going to be a grandma again....(her choice, but I'm not hiding it)
Rant over. Thanks for reading......

Sorry for your in-laws continued negative reaction. I hope that when the baby arrives they will be welcoming.

First, CONGRATULATIONS: "I got the best Christmas Present....I felt the baby move for the first time on Christmas Eve...." Sorry for your in-laws continued negative reaction. I hope that when the baby arrives they will be welcoming. I agree with what Dara said. Suggestion: Send baby names in an email/private message to dh so you don't give an opportunity to get the facebook reactions. You or dh may just change your minds before final name decision anyway.

All that matters is that you and baby are healthy..... hopefully they'll straighten up soon! Just try and not stress! Easier said than done, I know!

In-laws suck! Just make up your mind not to care about if/when they want to care. If they don't want to be human/involved then just let it be. The ones the really care and want to be there for you will be. I seriously learned this the hard way. I know it still sucks because you would like your in-laws to accept you but that isn't always the case.

if you can't stand the heat... get out of the kitchen.
If you don't want to hear the feedback.... don't post on FB... or anywhere in general. You post... you open yourself up to feedback.

My in-laws are the same for the most part. I have just become numb to the comments. Like recently with my hubby's lay off...."you wouldn't be so bad off if you would of been working as well" etc. I just blow it off. I know the bi-monthly visits from them will end once Lucas turns 1 in February just like with Claire.
Keep posting....keep doing what your doing....I say keep getting under their skin. Eventually they'll break, and if they don't...well it is their loss. Make sure they are the last to know details for any showers you may have and when you have the baby. Yeah...I'm in a bad mood so this probably makes me sound like a b*tch. Oh well.

Quirky, hang in there with in-law relations. They can be tricky to navigate, and if the only time you hear any "pregnancy chat" from them it is negative feedback on FB, I can see where you'd feel irritated and need to vent.
Sometimes it's best to be "cheerful and stupid." I listen to Dr Joy Browne on the radio on occasion and I love this line from her. If you get mad to someone's face, sometimes you're giving them what they want--a reaction. So just ignore any negativity from them, revel in your own joy and your own magical time of being pregnant and bonding with your baby. If you do get anything yuck from them, just be "cheerful and stupid" and let it rolllllllll right off you. Because you've got an amazing gift!!
Hang in there with the situation, and enjoy those little moments of sweetness that are coming.
