I've been enjoying audiobooks lately. I love being able to listen to a book while doing housework or other things that keep my hands, but not my mind, busy. I love getting them from the library using One Click Digital because I can get them right onto my iPod and there's no need to get CD's returned in time to avoid a fine. A friend of mine has listened to audiobooks for years during her commute to and from work, which I've always thought was brilliant. Do you use audiobooks?

I do not listen well enough to listen to an audiobook.

I did when I was younger, but I find now that I get easily distracted with an audiobook and don't pay enough attention to it!

I can see what you mean. I have had to work on paying attention since I do process things visually much better than auditorily. I think it's probably good for me in that regard, to push myself. If I find I haven't paid attention or processed a segment I go back and listen again, so I make sure I'm not missing anything. And I think I'm getting better at focusing on it with practice.
Ian listens to a lot of audiobooks- that was one of the outcomes of diagnosing his dyslexia. His ability to read text independently is so far below his ability to process information auditorily and that was leading to a lot of frustration. This way he can read whatever he wants, and doesn't have to be limited by our time to read to him.

Back when I had a gruelling daily commute I would rent books on CD from the library from time to time (yes I'm dating myself, that was 7 years ago). On the two days a week I have a longer commute I now listen to the radio or podcasts.

My BIL listens to audiobooks while he's on the treadmill or while he's driving. My Brother and SIL listen to them on the drive to and from the lake in the summer. I used to get them for my DDs but we haven't been to the library in a while. I might have to start getting them for me while I walk!

At the moment Ian is listening to Les Miserable while jumping on a trampoline. Can't do that with a print book.
