They do have it figured out. We go weekly and every week before we leave, our kids ask if we can come back again next week

I grew up in a family with no religious connection whatsoever. I always felt "Christian" in my heart and actually read the Bible start to finish when I was a teenager (not understanding most of it, especially the descriptions of building the temple, ugh!) But anyway -- I always wanted to join a church when I grew up. When my DH and I were first married, we lived in North Carolina and I visited a number of churches. Some I liked but none ever felt "just right." When we moved back home to MN we started attending a Lutheran church in the western burbs and loved it. It's very inclusive and welcoming and the sermons are always so wonderful--make you want to go out and be a better person, inspire you to really try to do your best to spread love and joy in the world, help other people, etc. - WITHOUT any judging or "guilting" you into acting a certain way. Anyway -- I would highly recommend visiting a number of churches in your area to see what you like and don't like. I know without a doubt that my life is better because of my church. The messages I get there are very important to me, and counter a lot of society's pressures to earn more, buy more, be a certain way, how success is judged. Instead it's more about your inner qualities and how you can serve your community and people around the world with the talents you have, and connecting in your heart to God and really "knowing" Him and allowing him into your life. I think that there aren't many places in the world where you hear and are surrounded by messages of love, peace, serving, gratitude. Plus I want my kids to have a place to go outside of the home where they'll always be accepted and loved for who they are as their own unique Self.

After service this morning I was so hoping to come home and find that you had seen the same service that I did and I was anxious to hear what you thought! (Eagle Brook)

Just wanted to say good luck in your search! We love our church (Hastings United Methodist Church). They focus on the children which just awesome. DD loves going each week, and cries if we miss. They also offer AWANA during the school year, which is open to anyone(we have kids from Woodbury, St. Paul, and Farmington even)
We'd love to see you! If you come visit let me know. You can message me on here. I have decided to deactivate my FB profile for awhile. I also have your email so I can message you there as well.
