"The look at profanity's connection to aggression comes after “hundreds of studies have shown links between exposure to violence, sexual behavior and substance use in media and subsequent behavior,” the scientists write in a report published online Monday in Pediatrics. “Parents should be looking at what their kids are watching," says lead author Sarah Coyne, an assistant professor of family life at Brigham Young University. She notes that profanity appears to be creeping in to more “family friendly” programming than ever. moms.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/10/17/8367010-earmuffs-potty-mouths-linked-to-aggression-in-tweensInteresting study! It seems like nothing is taboo on tv shows anymore. It seems that ANYTHING my bf chooses to watch, the kids need to leave the room or he just can't watch it. It isn't a whole lot better when I find something interesting on tv. Even the kids movies that have come out in the last few years have profanity or inuendoes squeezed in there somewhere. My DS1 has always been able to decipher between good and bad words. My DS2 on the other hand picks up every word that he shouldn't say and finds a way to put them into conversations. It has become a challenge, that is for sure.
