I'm curious what kinds of job other working moms have. I work around 50 hours a week as a leader of a 24/7 quick service restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.

I work as a supervisor for group homes for people with disabilities. Some weeks are 45 hrs others are 50-60...depends on the week and what is going on. I treasure the 40-45 hr weeks!

Dara, I'm with you there! A 40 hour week almost seems like a vacation or an eight hour day is like getting a gift!
As a supervisor, do you get called in a lot to cover people who call in sick or do a no call no show?

I am a probation officer. I worked full-time until February 2011. Then, they started a new program and needed a probation officer, but no one would volunteer because it required evening hours. I told them I would do the evening hours if the made the job-part time so that I could be home during the day with my boys.
I am still a probation officer, but now I work part-time. I will only do this until my DS#1 starts Kindergarten next year, then I will go back to a full-time day job in juvenile probation.

As a supervisor, do you get called in a lot to cover people who call in sick or do a no call no show? Not usually because I supervise the group home supervisors, so I am one step removed from needing to go in if a staff no-shows or is sick. But I do have to be on call and respond to resident emergencies, answer questions, problem solve (sometimes in the middle of the night). I used to supervise just one site and had to cover staff shifts, that was the only part I didn't like.

I work as a receptionist/accounts payable for an industrial supply company in Mpls. I work 40 hours a week. It is great to know what time I start and end every day because it never changes. My boss is great and understands if I show up late or have to leave early. I have a big work load but it keeps me busy. I have wonderful benefits and it just fits me all around right now. One day I would like to work in a law firm and put my diploma to some use.
