My daughters leg hurt b4 bed during the day & overnight last night. She woke us 2X last night b/c her leg hurt. We are thinking it might have been growing pains, but not sure. The 2nd time she woke me in the middle of the night we ended up giving her ibuprofen and we cuddled, read one book (that was tough b/c I didn't have my glasses on) then I tucked her in and asked her if she wanted me to prop her owie leg up thinking maybe that would help she said no and she said it feels better already. Dh thanked me this morning. Men are goofy.
Why do you suppose her leg is hurting? Also, what would you have done?
Thanks.

It most definitely could be growing pains. When I was in 3rd grade my legs grew too fast in a short period of time and I ended up with Osgood Schlatter's disease, which caused bumps on my knees. It was very painful.
It could also be if she did some sort of game or exercise with her legs that caused them to be sore. I would have given ibuprofen too, you could also try icing it today for 20 min at a time.

She did do a lot of walking w/ gma & gpa at The Landing event there. Kids guessed they walked 4 miles. Though I am not sure.

I had horrible growing pains as a child and so did my son. Ibuprofen is good. Massage is good. Heating pad. Do the bicycle with the legs--stretches them a little.

I had really bad growing pains when I was younger- I grew 5 inches in 1 year.. My mom used to have me sit in ice baths.

My guess is also "growing pains." I've had friends whose kids have had this type of pain, and normally it's been temporary and they outgrow it. I did have one friend whose child was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, however, so if it doesn't go away or seems more intense than normal you may want to discuss it with your child's physician.

DS1 gets bad growing pains. I'm pretty sure DS2 gets them too only he can't tell us yet. DH used to get them really bad when his was a kid. I should say that he got them until he was 21 years old. I just never grew so I didn't have to worry about it.

Most likely growing pains. My DD2 & 3 get them when they are on their feet/legs more than usual. I always give tylenol ASAP or you end up off and on the rest of the night. I also massage their legs until the meds kick in.
I suffered as a child as well as my parents and grandparents. Not fun!
Wow an ice bath as a child for leg aches! That would not be fun. I think heat is better than cold. DD2 likes warm blankets when her legs hurt.

Yeah, it wasn't very fun- but surprisingly it did help, that's what her doctor had recommended at the time

Could very well be growing pains or the long walk! I am always told to use cold or ice too for sore legs. But I much prefer a hot bath and massage.
