My DD has been complaining for 2 days now that her "bottom" hurts. I don't believe it is a UTI because it is not hurting when she pees. I think it is either due to lack of good wiping (she is 4) or from bubble baths. I've told her we need to take a break from baths and just shower, I've been putting diaper rash cream on it, I've been wiping for her really good with wipes. Still she is complaining. Any thoughts on other things I can do or what it might be? I was wondering if maybe she could have a yeast infection?

Have you brought her in to see her dr? My dd got a bad rash from some generic target diapers and it went past bad rash to yeast infection (including sores like a rash). The dr had us pick up some anti-fungal ointment to get rid of the rash. I'd bring her into the dr to have them help you figure out what is wrong. Bubble baths did cause her to hurt too, so we just stopped the bubbles in her bath. We also helped the itching with oatmeal bath (found in the pharmacy section). Good luck trying to figure out what the issue is.

My DD who is also 4 has the same issue from not wiping well enough. I rarely ever use bubbles in the bath so I know that doesn't cause it for her. I would not use wipes but just toilet paper. The wipes may be making it worse instead of helping. I use diaper cream too and that seems to work for her. Maybe a different kind of cream would help. Good Luck!

Thinking maybe she's having hard bowels and maybe she's sore on her bottom? Try to increase fiber/water intake, keep up wiping effectively, lay off the bubble bath products. Hope she feels better!

DD has problems with not wiping very good sometimes as well. And not really washing her area in the bath. It can get a little red sometimes. Usually we'll give her a nice warm bath and put vaseline on her area. It really helps. If nothing seems to work for your DD I would bring her in to the Dr. See what they say. Good luck hun!

My three-year-old DD says this from time to time, too ... usually I just make sure she's wiping well, tell her we'll soak in the tub, and at times I will put diaper rash cream on if necessary. I don't know how many times we've gone over "proper wiping technique" but it's still a struggle for her!

nevaehsmom, I think you were right. She refused to go to the bathroom all night, after she went to bed, she could hold it no more. Poor thing was constipated pretty bad. We had been giving her fiber vitamins for about a year and had stopped in the last month, needless to say we have started back up. Thanks for everyones thoughts/tips.
