Hi Ladies! I want to buy or create a chore chart for my kids. I didn't like any of the ones I saw online to BUY, but I did like a few I saw on Pinterest. Unfortunately I am NOT an artsy person so it will be a challenge to make one, but I'll give it a try. Here's what my goals are for it:
Fits 2 kids' names Has magnets with chores written on them Two columns per kid so they can move their magnets from "To Do" to "Done" or something like that.
So it shouldn't be too hard. The biggest problem is going to be finding something that is magnetized. Or do I just buy a baking pan of some sort and cover it with cute paper? BLERGH I am NOT good at this kind of stuff! Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!!!

You can get magnetic paint now and just put a layer or two of that on a board then paint over it.

I bought nice framed magnetic white boards from Office Depot for about $10/each a couple of years ago. You could then draw with permanent marker on the board and write in with permanent marker your kids' names and a done/to-do column.
Instead of magnets with chores on them you could do this and just have regular magnets they move: Chores DD1 To-do DD1 Done DD2 To-do DD2 Done Put clothes away Dust Feed Cat Unload Dishwasher

you can also use popsicle sticks and paint them, use a sharpie to write the chore on them, then stick a magnet on the back.... also make one that says, Chores, and one that says done... then they can just move the stick over that they have completed. Maybe color coded for each kid. You could also use one of those magnet frames, and put the kid's pics in them and put each of their popsicle stick chores underneath them so they know whose is whose.
The chores Preston does... feeds the dogs AM and PM, helps to unload the dishwasher, helps to dust, helps to load and unload laundry, Swiffers with the dry cloth, helps to clean up before nap and bedtime, and also helps to clean his room spotless twice a week... some other ideas, I wrote down some things P was working on that wasn't really a chore.. things that he was struggling with (bath time, flushing the toilet, brushing teeth) and that helped with getting him to do those things routinely!
Good Luck!!!

Ugh so my idea looked formatted and nice when I typed it and then when it actually replied, it doesn't look nice. What I was trying to get at was having 5 vertical columns (1 for chores and list chores beneath and 2 for each girl with a to-do/done). The horizontal columns would be for each chore.

If you also write down somewhere a goal... whether it's money, an outing, a treat etc... seeing what they'll be earning may help motivate

My neighbor ordered her's off of Etsy. The are personalized with names and the chores you want! I'll try to find the info for you if you want. I'm crafty but it seems like a better idea to have someone else do them for me.

Thanks Lil -- but I just started buying supplies, and I guess I could go around and return them but ... apparently I'm a glutton for punishment because I'm going to give it a try. Maybe I should have you send me a link though, just in case halfway through I decide "Forget THIS I am going to just buy them!!!"
