We are getting ready to head out on a road trip to Myrtle Beach with the kids. Has anyone ever been there and have advice? Or any roadtrip tips for traveling with kids? TIA!

Ooooooh beautiful area. I've never been to Myrtle Beach, although I lived in North Carolina many years ago and spent some time on the coast. Tips for traveling with kids:
Bring small little games and items that they haven't seen before, and keep them portioned out so you have a few new ones to bring out each day you're traveling. New coloring books, Wonder Color art, magnetic toys, small plush toys, etc. that you can haul out when they need a break from movies. That being said, in my opinion on long trips you do what you can to stay sane, and if that means a lot of screen time, so be it. Movies, kid TV shows on DVDs, all of that is good.
How old are your kids again? Mine are 8 and 5 and we are getting more into driving games like finding the ABCs in order, "I spy," 20 Questions, the old "classic" games.
I'd figure out if there are parks you can stop at along the way and let the kids just run around for 20 minutes--planning that into the trip would be fun.
Bring lots of snacks and lots of water!!

More ideas:
Books on tape, lots of books to read puppets? Maybe they could create a puppet show Books about the area of Myrtle Beach, including animals, plants, birds, turtles etc. they might see while there Stories that take place in Myrtle Beach or stories about the ocean

Lots of good ideas! Thank you! It is about 21 hours each way. We plan on dividing the trip in half and staying in Indiana for the night. DS is 4 and DD is 18mo. We have LOTS of snacks packed, and plan on stopping at rest stops for breaks and lunches. We have a dual screen DVD player so that will definitely help, but DD will get bored with it quicker than DS. DH and I have traveled a lot, but this will be our first big road trip with the whole family.

Megan - Let me know how it goes with DD and what you find kept her occupied the most. We are taking a road trip to FL in March. DS1 will be 9 and DS2 will turn 2 while we are down there.
Wish I had some advice for you but, I don't.

As you already probably know, I travel east with the kids by myself a couple times a year.... I used to pack toys and coloring and other stuff but found that NONE of it got used and it just made more clutter than anything else. Definitely a DVD player... and not just movies, song dvds (like Laurie berkner) are fun too. I put a CD visor on both visors and use them for the DVDs.
For Preston, I bought about 10 New matchbox cars and at each rest stop where we had to get out to eat and potty... if he was well behaved he got a new car to open at the table while we ate. It made for less stressful rest stops. Could do the same for dd but with something different. This way they still have a couple toys but it's not overwhelming.
Also, on my next road trip I'm getting each kid their own small plastic tackle box... to store their toys , snacks and lovies in so it all stays organized!!

Laminated photos might be fun for both kids... and flash cards for ds. Blankets to snuggle are also a must!!
