What does your family do on Halloween?
My in-laws come over and we have dinner, taking turns to answer the doorbell and give the Trick or Treaters candy (we usually have about 100 kids to our house). Then we take a bunch of pictures of DDs and go out to the nearest neighbors who we know fairly well--about 8-10 houses. We come back, the kids get some candy, and then we just enjoy seeing the costumes and kiddos who come to the door. It's fun and pretty low key.

We haven't been home to give out candy for a couple years. We have been taking the kids to MOA. A few years ago we had about 100 kids also. This year hopefully, depending on the weather, were going to my in-laws house for pizza and trick or treating

When the kids were young, we ate supper early and then I took the kids trick-or-treating. DH stayed home and handed out candy. Some years we met up with friends. Some years it was just us. When the kids were old enough to be out with a group of neighborhood kids without a parent, I inherited the candy handing out job.

First couple years we went trick or treating we went back to my home town in Iowa because most all houses like to participate and it was nice they always had a set time to start and end.
Now that we cant go back during the week we stay around here and just hit up a couple blocks. Last year we went to my Uncles in Edina and that was nice. This year we are staying around here again. We carve a couple pumpkins too. I guess it depends what day it falls on if we stay here or travel.

We go to my SIL's house. They live next door to DH's Mom and my parents live pretty close to there. DD's trick or treat with cousins and then we go to my parents' house to visit them.

We eat Jack-o-lantern pizza and then head out in the neighborhood!
Sometimes we meet up with friends sometimes we don't. We usually watch The Great Pumpkin that we DVR.

In the past DS has always had swim lessons so we quick get in costume and hit a few houses in our neighborhood.
This year we are skipping swim lessons and heading out with our new neighbors.
DH sets up a laser show in our downstairs window too.

Good for you Debbie! Halloween is MUCH more important than swimming lessons.

Bunsy- the only bonus of doing both swimming lessons and trick or treating for a bit after is that the last 2 years no other kids have shown up and he has had a private lesson. Now that he is older and will want to go to a few more houses, it makes sense to go earlier so he can go longer.

The kids have been doing Halloween crafts all week and we carved pumpkins last night. Tonight we will watch a Halloween movie while getting our costumes ready and eat a quick dinner, then head to my parent's house, and also my in-laws house to trick or treat. DH and DS might stay out around here longer, but DD will probably be ready for bed by 7:00.
