Do you know how to use a gun? Do you or does anyone in your family hunt?

I shot a rifle once in 6th grade at the school forest (a kind of camp we went to at school). I don't care for guns and haven't shot one since.
My grandpa hunted when he was still alive, but no one in my family carried that on. DH's cousins all hunt, I've been seeing lots of pics on FB. One of his cousins got a buck last Saturday.

I have shot a BB Gun before, aimed it at cans stuff like that, have not done it for years and do not plan on shooting any kind of gun anytime soon.
My step dad will do some hunting but that's about it in our family.

I do not know how to use a gun. My BIL and his kids hunt (pheasants mostly) and quite a few of my cousins, but my DH doesn't hunt and my dad never did either.

I have shot a shot gun and a rifle, and a few smaller hand guns, mostly a 20 guage. My dad taught me how when I was younger and DH and I enjoy shooting at targets and clay pigeons at our cabin. I went grouse hunting with my dad once when I was in high school, and he made me carry the dead birds out of the woods! That was the first and last time I ever hunted lol. DH went deer hunting last weekend with my dad and didn't get anything so they are going again this weekend. Hopefully we get some venison, I'm looking forward to jerky!

I have shot a rifle (not really sure if that's different than a shot gun), and a pistol. DH is a big hunter and last spring I went turkey hunting with him, but I made him carry it out

I have never shot a gun (other than a bb gun). My brother is a hunter. DH has no interest in it. My boys have no interest in it. DS1 LOVES guns but not hunting.

There's not much difference between a shot gun and a rifle -- shot gun shoots 'pellets' and rifles shoot bullets. I'm sure someone who knows more about guns would correct me on this (And DH would go on and on about details lol), but to the general public that's the basic difference.

I've shot a shotgun one time at a friend's cabin where they have targets.. I have no interest in guns. My family was very into hunting in the 80's. My dad, grandpa, cousin and uncle would go often every year, and we had land in a Podunk area of NY just for that. My dad is now retired in Fl, and my brother is the only hunter left in the family. He looks forward to it every year! I do have cousins who hunt and my FIL is into it too... has been to Canada to hunt moose! Poor Moose!

My DH would go on and on about the difference too, and honestly has probably told me more than once! It is much more important to him than me - I lump them all together under one general "gun" category anyway. Thanks for clarifying!!

I have shot a gun but only my gun. I bought it for protection when I lived alone. It's locked up but close to our bedroom. When I bought my home and was single, someone followed me home from the grocery store one morning. He broke in when I left for work. Thank God for my alarm system, my dog and police. It would've ended badly. I kept the gun for safety after that.

I took gun safety when I was 12 and had to shoot a target and clay pigeons to pass, however, I have only shot once or twice since then and definitely wouldn't know how to handle a gun now without help. My cousins, uncles & grandpa are big hunters.
