DD 2 got a Monster High doll for her 6th birthday from a friend. I hid it for the time being so I could research the dolls, but so far I haven't had much luck finding out about them. Do you know what the deal is? Pros and cons?
On the one hand, I guess I like in theory that they're not "Barbie" beautiful. They have scarier looks (since they're monsters) and apparently on a show they have talents or what not. But they're still skinny, into fashion, and even though they're monsters they have makeup and are all dolled up. My kids play with Barbie so what's the difference I guess. But I just don't know enough about them or what they are all about. Any info about them? Thanks!

My DD's are so into Monster High, it's ridiculous. DD1's entire Christmas list is Monster high dolls, books, movies, etc. and DD2 wants to be just like her so she loves them also. I was like you in the fact that they are "monsters" and because of their looks. I let the girls rent one of their movies from Red Box, and that changed my mind. The movies have good "life lessons" in them about being inclusive to everyone, using your talents to help others, only for good, not being ashamed of who you are, etc. and that made me ok with them.
DD1 is 8 and DD2 is 5.

Thanks, Sarah! I appreciate that because I don't have any idea what they're about!

I was also against the dolls until I saw the movie, 13 Wishes. I like the lessons that the movie taught, so I bought some dolls for DD for Christmas.

Honestly I also like the fact that they don't look so "real" like Barbie, so it's not an ideal my girls will try to achieve. They just can't get blue or green skin

They are more "cartoony" so more imaginative in that regard.

My dd who is 7 got one for her b-day this year from my sister and getting another one from her for Christmas. I am ok w/ them. She likes them & plays w/ them often. I don't see anything wrong w/ them. I thought they looked a little creepy when I first saw them.
