My dh is due for an upgrade for a cell. phone and he is interested in a smart phone. I am curious of a good brand or a good plan. He hardly ever uses his right now. Currently he has a flip phone. What he wants to be able to do w/ the phone: occassionally text, receive/make calls, take pictures, occassionally look up info. or directions if on a trip.
Anyone know of a good smart phone or good plan for one of these. He has done a little research on this. We are going to look at the phones b4 his company party at Fogo De Chao on Saturday. Any & all help or insight would be great & appreciated.
Thanks much.

Im in love with my Samsung Galaxy S4. The pictures turn out far better than my previous iphone and my husbands iPhone5...its seriously like a mini dslr in my phone. I like the big screen.
The iPhone is very simple to use and would do all those things he wants. I am sure you can find previous iPhones free with a plan same with previous Samsung galaxies.
As for plan I dont know ours isnt offered anymore. We use ATT and have no problems.

The plan is going to depend on which carrier you have... We currently have Sprint and aren't very happy with the service lately.
Any smart phone will be able to do all the things your DH needs. The iPhone is very user friendly and you will probably be able to get an older version 4 or 4s for free with the upgrade. I currently have an android, the EVO 3d, I don't recommend it. The battery life isn't very good and there is such a delay with the camera that pictures never turn out. I'm eligible for an upgrade as well and will most likely be getting the galaxy s4.

I have an iphone 5 and I love it, but I've never had another smart phone besides an iphone. Like Megan said they're very user friendly and easy to navigate, I find the androids confusing (although I'm sure I'd get used to it if I had one).
iPhone's also take good pictures, and quickly - there is little delay especially if the flash isn't on.

I have an iPhone and love it because it's very intuitive to use. I'm technologically inept so anything that make it easier on a user is a good thing in my case! What I like best about it is being able to check my email, taking photos with it and also using various apps. (Gas Finder to locate cheap gas, grocery IQ so both DH and I know our grocery list and can update it, Google Maps for sure!

I've never had one... probably never will. I just can't buy into paying extra for data plans when we have WiFi at home... for tablets, and a laptop. I have GPS in my car already, and don't feel the need to be connected ALL the time!
Sorry I can't help... but we do love Verizon!

My husband and I love our Samsung Galaxy 3 smart phones, and our 2 adult kids like theirs also. Because the Galaxy 4 model is out on the market, it makes the G3 a more reasonably priced option. Generally, you can get it at Best Buy for $29.99 (with a 2-year contract). There may be better deals during the holidays; I'm not sure??? I believe Sprint Stores and Sprint.com will give the same phone for FREE,(with a 2-year contract). We use Sprint. The service is average, I think Verizon was better when we were with them. Depending on who your husband's employer is, some corporate discounts can save you 10-20% on the cost of service. It is worth checking into all potential savings that are out there. The Samsung G3 will do everything you described and more. The music/sound quality and the camera are both very good. Most areas of the Twins Cities you will have 4G network coverage, which seems fast to me. You can educate yourself on choices by reading these 12 Tips for Purchasing a Smart Phone.
