In place of dessert, I offer yogurt.

a website I rely on all day, every day (silly as it might sound) is myfitnesspal.com . It helps you log everything you eat and your exercise so you can see exactly what you need to do to lose weight because it does the calculations for you. Also on the site are several message boards with advice and answers to everything under the sun! I've found great recipes and advice. I've lost almost 90 lbs in a little over a year

I don't want to spam you with info but if you like shakes I may have a plan for you. When I say shakes I am not talking slim fast. I am talking butterfinger shake or coffee shakes and hundreds of others. I just started doing Body by Vi a week ago and I am down 5lbs, and my husband is down 7lbs. We drink a shake for breakfast and lunch and a decent meal for dinner plus snacks in between. If you are interested please send me a pm or you can visit my site: katienelson2011.bodybyvi.com/

I agree with myfitnesspal.com it helps you stay acountable - you record what you eat and what exercise you get and it helps to stay on track. Also - start small. Don't change all your habits overnight because that is a sure way to fail. Start by adding a veggie into your day or giving up 1 unhealthy thing at a time - soda, dessert, whatever. But you can't give it all up - you need to reward yourself too - have 1 cheat day/week where you can eat whatever you want or have that meal you are really craving. I gave up pop but kept dessert. I'm trying to eat healthier too and it's hard, especially this time of year. make sure you are moving a little every day too - take a walk, do a workout DVD, etc. Jillian Michaels has some good ones that are cheap and not very long - try her 30 day shred. Good luck and know that you aren't alone!

I've been working on eating healthier. One strategy I have is to try to make vegetarian meals more often and eat more quinoa. Quinoa is kind of bland by itself but it's a great "base" for making other dishes. I'll use it in lieu of rice, pasta, etc. (it's a whole grain that has protein). For example, I made a cheesy chicken-spinach casserole for my family but when I served myself I mixed in a bunch of quinoa. That way I get the flavor of the meal, don't have to make a separate dish for myself, take in fewer calories, and increase the nutritional value.

I third myfitnesspal.com. It is really helpful. The key for me is squeezing in exercise. When I exercise I eat healthier and when I eat healthier I feel more like exercising.
