I've never had to deal with reflux or a baby with poor eating habits... so I'm not sure if this is reflux but my instincts are pointing me in that direction. My baby is 12 weeks old and has some troule eating from the beginning. Here are the signs that I'm dealing with now.. he only wants to eat a very small amount at a time.. like 2 ounces most feedings, every hour and a half to two hours. He spits up with every meal and will randomly start crying. Sometimes he chokes while he's eating or coughs. He'll scrunch up uncomfortably after a feeding. He sleeps flat on his back but generally only sleeps for 40 minutes at a time except at night he'll go 3 hours at a time.
Does this sound like reflux? If so.. how did you other moms deal with your babies with reflux? I've read to try cereal in the milk to thicken it up.. but I've also read not to do that. I'm resistant to giving him antacids. I'm scheduling a doctors appointment for early next week to talk about it. He still has plenty of wet and dirty diapers and his active and happy most of the time, but this frequent, difficult feeding is wearing on me.

Yes! DS2 had reflux. We put him on a prescription for it. The drug does cause constipation so you do have to be careful of that, but, it made all the difference in the world. DS2 also had a intolerance to dairy so we had him on soy. Do you have his crib at an incline? I know it's not the best but DS2 slept in his swing alot since that was the only way he could sleep for some time.
Good Luck! I feel for you.

Does it sound to you like my son has reflux? Is it similar to what your DS2 as dealing with?

Hi My youngest DS also had it, we switched his formula to a special sensitive tummy kind and his doctor gave him a prescription also which made a huge difference. I also agree with sleeping in a swing or upright position.
Good luck! I know exactly how it feels but it does get better, DS was over it by 6-7 months and not any problems since.

Same as my kids had... then I moved them both to rock n play sleepers and reflux was gone in a couple days. It's a reclined bassinet by Fisher price!

Samantha - it does sound like reflux to me. Are you BF or using formula? Does he sleep reclined or flat?
My DS2 also had projectile spitting up because he would get such a huge bubble. Make sure you are getting a really good burp every few ounces of food as well. We added a little rice cereal as well and it did help some.

He's on formula now, on Similac Sensitive and he sleeps flat.. he doesn't sleep well in his swing or his chair but I'll give it a shot! I'm thinking something else might be going on too as he's got a low grade fever at the moment. I hate when a fever pops up.. makes me so nervous! He's bright eyed and active though!

Try raising one end of his crib by a couple of inches.
