New car and dead old one

Since we are expecting baby number 3 in August (first for us together), DH and I have been talking and researching trading in my old car that only has 2 seat belts in the backseat. We would keep his car and we have a very dead SUV in our garage I wanted him to call and have junked. Well we agreed on a car we are going to test drive over the weekend and I almost had him convinced to get rid of the SUV. No luck. He won't part with it and I don't get it. His reasoning is that when his 2 daughters visit we won't have enough room. My issue is this, his oldest teenage daughter lives 12 hours away and only comes in the summer and splits her time between our house and grandmas house and the older she gets the shorter her visits are now. His youngest daughter's mom moved and disappeared with her so getting her back is taking time and court fees. So why are we keeping a gas guzzling car that doesn't run when we have 2 cars that do and could split up into both if needed? Am I being the irrational pregnant woman here? Sorry for the venting, he's frustrating me with this.

you sound rational to me, men can be not so much. It makes sense, but he didn't think of it.
How could his daughters even ride in it, if it dosen't even run?

Sounds like an emotional connection rather than a logical one. We kept a vehicle WAY longer than necessary just because DH loved it SO much and had such great memories attached to it.

I think it's gotta be emotional for him. He's so convinced he can fix it and then it will run perfect and he can use it all the time. He forgot how much it costs to put gas in it. Men! Lol
