What are the things that you love and couldn't wait to share with your kids? It could be a hobby or a book or an experience, or anything, but something that when you had kids you were excited to share.
For me there were two things I couldn't wait for Ian to be old enough for - Harry Potter and West Wing.
We are not much of a TV family (Ian called the TV "weather" when he was little b/c he thought that was all it was) but I was totally addicted to West Wing and felt it just conveyed so many important ideas and ethics and was a way to start so many important conversations. As Ian grew his interest in history and government was clear and so even more I was excited for the time when we felt he was old enough to watch the show.
Harry Potter I've been waiting to share with Ian since long before he was conceived. I bought each book in hardcover, knowing I wanted to have the set to share with my kid and pass down someday. Again, I had to wait for him to be old enough, as they get quite scary, but also was conscious that I wanted to read them with him soon enough that he would be surprised by all the twists and turns and not already know all the "spoilers."
Well as it turns out he was ready for both at about the same time and I've been enjoying so much seeing them both through his eyes and all the conversations we're having about both of them. Both are a set of 7 (seasons for West Wing, and books for HP) and we finished the fifth of each today.
So what are you things you that you couldn't/can't wait to share with your kids? Were you able to do so right away, or were they things they had to be old enough for? Are you still waiting?

Hmmmm … I have a few things on my list that I either have had a lot of joy sharing with my kids or am still waiting until they're old enough. Books that I love, like Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Where the Red Fern Grows, and the Harry Potter books, too. (We've only been through the first book so far.) I can't wait until my kids get into waterskiing because I love it and I think they will too once they're brave enough to try. Snowshoeing--my favorite winter sport. So far they get pretty tired quickly and so when we go we can't go far, but I still enjoy it. DD2 loves to run and I look forward to when she asks to run with me. I'll probably think of more later!

I am looking forward to sharing the ocean with DS. By the time I was his age I had spent quite a bit of time on the Atlantic coast as we lived in NH and my Grammy was in Boston, we moved to WI when I was 5, but went back a lot. I can't wait until we take a vacation that involves the ocean!
Last summer it was fun to share Noah's Ark waterpark in WI Dells with DS. I went every summer of my childhood.
We have just started sharing our love of musicals with DS. He is currently very into the soundtrack for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I plan to introduce Cats to him next.
I guess for me it is sharing life experiences (trips, places, art, theater, etc.) that I look forward to sharing with him most as he grows. I feel very fortunate to have had a lot of amazing travel experiences and been exposed to art museums and theater. As DS gets older I am enjoying beginning to share this with him.

Spending time at the cabin - my grandparents had a cabin that we spent lots of time at during the summer. We have brough DD's there and they love it as well. It is great to share with them. My parents bought the cabin next to Grandma's a couple years ago and have been remodeling it so I know there will be lots more memories made there.
Something I didn't plan/wait for, is that DD1 absolutely loves watching Dateline. I used to watch it all the time, and now she asks to watch it and we plan our Friday nights around watching it together. I love it!

Karate-- could only get my 5 yo (DS) interested-- hope it lasts. Star trek-- DH and DD (age 12) llike it too. Both kids laugh at Weird Al music, DD likes to laugh at 80s music (Funkytown, anyone?) Both kids like camping. DD got to go tenting, with DS we had little scamp camper, and just bought (but not taken to campground yet) and 25 ft camper trailer that is gong to be put in a campground for long term (few years or more at least) as we don;t have a vehicle to move it and don't want to buy a vehicle just for that. We just need to the grond at the campdground to be ready (dry enough) to have it get moved.
