Good morning!
DS has no school today, I am working from home with a squirrely 6 yo. This may not end up the best. He has way too much energy and I have way too much to do.

Uh oh. Not a good combination. Too bad you are so far away....I'd take him to the park for you and run him down.
As usual, my day is flexing depending on the wants and needs of others around me. Bunsette may need help setting up for a party. DH may need help with a project. I friend may be coming over to look at landscaping stuff with me.
It's good. I hate structure.

He has been dancing off some energy!
I don't like structure, but I like a plan! My work definitely is all over the place with hours, sometimes at the office, sometimes site visits, I like the variety, but have to have a plan or I go crazy!

The sun is gone. Bummer. I dropped a fountain diet coke at Bunsette's house-sitting gig. She was still asleep....so cute....with two kitties surrounding her.
There is a sweet 16 surprise party there tonite so she decorated overnight to surprise the birthday girl when she woke up this morning. Looked like it was a success. I top toed back out.

That sounds fun! Are the birthday girl's parents out of town on her birthday?
Finally convinced DS to register for tennis lessons --- it was part of his birthday present from my parents and he always needs a little coaxing to try new things, but then loves them. It's only 1/2 hr for 5 weeks, he said he only wanted me or his Grampy to coach him. I reminded him that I still took lessons from other people even when my dad was teaching me too.

Birthday girl's parents are in England. Her 21 yo sister just finished a semester in London and Dad is from England. So they are experiencing London with young eyes again and then visiting family in the countryside. Birthday girl is going on a school trip to Panama this summer so her foreign travel was already planned for the year. And she had school.

Got it....doesn't sound like she has too rough a life Is Bunsette just there to keep her in check?

Yes. Rides to school. 16 yo wasn't too keen on being alone overnight. They are having a great time. She's a fun teenager and doesn't cause any trouble. Bunsette is having a good time living independently -- not that she's doing much but washing dishes occasionally and letting cats in and out.

That's a nice arrangement.
I used to do that for my cousin when he was 16. He was a good kid and fairly independent, but when his parents were gone didn't want to do more than 1 night by himself.

Home. Back to work (on my computer). Ugh.
But, had a great day with DS. He calmed down and let me get lots of work done, was great at the office with me for a bit and then we went to swimming lessons. He is really doing well with his swimming, hope we can hit the pool/lakes this summer to reinforce what he is learning. Then we went to a meeting I had for volunteer project. My best friend was there and he loves her. He read her 3 books and showed her his new Lego figure.

Operation Surprise Birthday Party a complete success. She was surprised. I did make a last minute run for more cupcakes as more people came than anticipated. But Bunsette was comfortable handling the 10 teens so I didn't have to crash the party.

Glad the party went well! And a cupcake run isn't such a bad thing Getting excited for my vacation this week, I get to spend 5 days hanging out with my little brother and cousin. I won't have access to my work phone or email. I won't be responsible for anyone but me. This will feel weird.

A vacation sounds like something you really need right now! Enjoy your temporary freedom from responsibility. It is an amazing feeling.

I can't think of the last time that I didn't have responsibility. It's been a really long time between work, parenting and volunteer obligations. I can definitely use it.
Hoping the weather cooperates, but planning an ocean hike, a mountain hike and a few days exploring Portland. I am also excited to meet my brother's friends and see where he lives. It always helps me picture what a friend or family member is up to when I see where they live and how they spend their time.
