Good afternoon. Lots to do here this week. We are heading out on Thursday for an anniversary get-away. Need to get haircut, Halloween shopping tonight after swimming and figure out packing and cleaning our house before Wed at 5p when my parents arrive.

We decided to NOT go way for our anniversary weekend this year. Since we'll be gone for 22 days in December, I think we'll get our alone time. We're just going to spend next Monday together from breakfast till bedtime.

That sounds nice. I hope you enjoy your trip in December. Is that to Maryland to help with your friend's daughter?
We are going away because it's our 10th and we need a break from hectic, fast paced. We are going to Disney in Dec but that's with my parents and won't be relaxing so hopefully this weekend will be.
I got a new book and plan to bring some movies. Plus hikes, jacuzzi and exploring.

Ooooh love hearing about getaways, especially on a gray dreary Monday!!
Bunsy, where are you going for such a long trip? Wow!!
Deb, yay!!! For couple time. That is so important!
We have a BOGO airplane voucher that expires the end if the year ... Not sure if we'll use it. I would love to but that means spending money on hotel, food, all the rest ... Maybe if we find a great deal somewhere we'll just go! Otherwise we'll have to wait til a FL trip over spring break.

Sounds lovely Debbie.
We are going to Bethesda Maryland to care for a friend's 11 yo daughter (mom died when she was 4) while he finishes his last month of work in London. He's retiring after that. She is back in school in MD so she wouldn't ahve to change schools in the middle. Her aunt is staying her 3 of 4 weeks per month this fall. But this aunt is a harpist and Christmas is her busy season so we're going to fill that void.
It is our 30th anniversary on October 20. Un freaking believable!!
Use your voucher Renee. You can find somewhere reasonably priced to go. Go somewhere totally unusual so hotel and food is cheap. Just time away from home is lovely.

Bunsy - That is so great that you can help your friend and I hope you have a good time. Do you plan to do touristy things in D.C.?
Renee- you should try to get away - even just a long weekend. Do you have friends somewhere that you could save the hotel costs?
Tonight was errand night. Swim lessons, haircut (he has to have it just right for picture day), Halloween costume shopping. We have 90% of the costume now!

Touristy things are on tap for weekends and short days while Carmen is in school. I don't think we're more than a 30 minute train ride from The Mall. We also plan to just hang out. It will be kind of like running away from home.
My quiet weekend became busier yesterday. I'm taking care of a 4 mo old from Thursday morning until Saturday afternoon. I'm looking forward to a short burst of chaos......and then his mommy will take him back.

Yes, you're right -- we do need a getaway!! I'd love to go somewhere warm but we'll have to see what the budget allows. Bunsy, what a gift to help your friend like that! Awesome. You are such a blessing to those around you. Ahh school pictures!! My kiddos' pics are next week. We have outfits for them so I think we're good to go.

Ugh my stomach has been finicky today-unusual for me! I want to eat lunch but am a bit concerned I'll feel worse after. BLAH.
My computer is with IT so it hard to get any work done! I have so much to do and I'm trying to not stress. Without a computer there's only so much you can do ... Maybe I'll take a slow walk and get some fresh air while I'm stuck waiting ...

Renee- I had the same thing when we did some IT transition a few weeks ago, it's amazing how we every survived without our computers.
DS has outfit picked out and I just need to do his hair in the morning - he wants it spiked up in front. I came across his pre-K and K pictures at work today. He changed so much in that one year. Looking forward to seeing this year's next to those 2. I'm biased but I think he's adorable.
My work meetings for Wed night got canceled, which makes me excited b/c my mom and dad are here and I don't need to run out right after dinner. They are planning to tell DS about our Disney trip tomorrow night or Thurs morning.....I cannot wait to see his face!!!

Ooh the Disney trip is a surprise? How cool is that? My kids know we're going because we've talked about it in front of them.
Do you have a favorite character meal that's not insanely expensive? Two years ago (last time we went) we did the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian and it was amazing. I'm hoping to do something cheaper this time - or maybe skip it ...

Gosh, I'd love to go back to DisneyWorld. I loved all 3 trips I've taken. We ate dinner one night at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary. I don't think it is an "official" character dinner but there are characters wandering around.
I'm making a list of things I'd like to know about my house guest who is arriving tomorrow morning. Since I've never met the tyke, I have no idea of his habits. Such an adventure!

That sounds fun! And it's close to Magic Kingdom so that might be doable - good idea, Bunsy! Yes a 4 MO will be exciting to care for!! They already have their likes and dislikes at that point, don't they? Goodness it's been a while since I've had an infant for more than a few hours. You'll get lots of good snuggles . Hopefully more during the daytime hours
