Any big Halloween plans this year? What are your kids' costumes?
My 6YO wants to be (big surprise) Elsa from Frozen. I estimate she'll be one of 10 Elsas in her class -- the rest will be Annas, am I right? Ah well.
My 9YO wants to be Olaf. The challenge is that most Olaf costumes go up to size 4T. We got on Pinterest and looked at some ideas. She loves to be crafty so she made the torso and my mom made her a carrot nose. My mom also made an AWESOME Olaf hat that looks just like the character, but my 9YO is stubborn and just wants the nose. My BFF is going to take the hat for her 4YO who also wants to be Olaf so it's all good ... But man my kids can be so incredibly stubborn sometimes!! I guess it's good that they know their own minds but still. (Sigh)

Ian's excited about it being on a weekend night this year. The last couple of years he's wanted to get together with friends to Trick or Treat, but his best buds live all over the place and it's too hard to pull off on a weeknight. So I told him that this year we could do it. So, at least one other family is coming over for an early Shabbat dinner and then Trick or Treating together.
He hasn't decided on costume yet - he's talked about maybe Harry Potter, maybe a Medieval knight or archer. He has all he would need for either, so as long as I don't need to buy anything, he can decide last minute as far as I'm concerned. He plans to call his friends over the weekend and see if they want to coordinate.

DH is going to a party in his Pikachu blanket sleeper. Bunsette and I are contemplating whether there will be any decorating or just candy handing.

DS wanted to go as 'Mo' from Wall-E, but when we told him that he could do that for trick-or-treating but not school b/c Mo is basically a box and he couldn't sit on the bus or wear it during class he scrapped that idea. Now he is going to be Jack the main character from the Magic Treehouse book series. I found everything we needed for the costume for $13 including a Magic Treehouse book to go in the backpack (thank goodness for Goodwill).
I need to figure what I am wearing to a work costume event this coming Wed. No ideas.

We went a little crazy for Halloween for Natalie's costume. She got really sick in April and almost passed. She's finally starting to get back to "normal." She lost her ability to walk, and just started again 3 weeks ago! My dad ordered her a custom Minnie mouse ballerina costume as a special treat. We will take her trick or treating!
We're going to a pumpkin patch this weekend and boo at the zoo!

For school DD1 is Emily Elizabeth with puppy Clifford and DD2 is Olivia.
For trick or treating DD1 is Black Widow, DD2 is Hulk, DD3 is the Scarlett Witch, DH is Captain America and I'm Iron Woman!

DD wanted to be Elsa, but alas, the Elsa section was empty! She choose a Snow Queen costume. It is really neat.

DD1 is going to be Elsa and DD2 is going to be a peacock. I made both their costumes so DD1's Elsa costume will at least be different than most. If I remembered how to post pics on here I would!

I just found out that my office is having a costume party. Oy vey! Not sure how I feel about dressing up for the office where it's (theoretically) my professional space. Hmmm, I'll have to think about it. Maybe I could go for more of a "witty" costume rather than "all out." Hmmm ....
Or go as Dilbert or a character from Office Space??

Ballerina, oh my - scary crazy horrifying about your kiddo. I'm so sorry you went through that, I can't even imagine. There were about 4 months when I was adjusting to a new job and schedule and haven't been on, so I missed that. I'm glad to hear that Natalie's recovering and getting back to her old self. What a horrible ordeal for all of you, but what a relief that she's walking again and is making progress! No wonder she's getting a little extra spoiled - I would be the same way FOR SURE.

Thanks Renee!!!
Unfortunately, Natalie is severely anemic. But, she also has red blood cell issues and wasn't creating her own. Seems to be pretty rare in kids her age. When we took her to the dr, after I demanded she be seen, we were rushed to childrens hospital. We found out about two hours later that she was near death. The scary thing though, was we had a crazy RSV epidemic at the time (April 24th) so they didn't want to admit us. Santa lie has had RSV before and they knew her body couldn't fight it if she got it in the hospital, so they sent us home. I didn't sleep more than 30 min a night for weeks until we were out of the near death stage. It was just terrifying. She just started walking again and is on a trial of no medication to see if her body has relearned how to make what she needs. We go back to childrens on my birthday (11/24) for more tests and blood work. Natalie has had blood work done every 3 weeks since we found out until July when we started her trial. It has been a crazy 6 months.

Glad to hear that Natalie is doing better. How scary.
Someone I supervise had a daughter with that issue in utero (not creating her own red blood cells). It was super scary b/c her daughter needed to receive blood transfusions in utero 3 or 4 times and then again after birth a few times before her body started creating the blood cells on its own. She's now a healthy almost 4 year old.

OMG! How Scary! Prayers that she starts making the RBC's that she needs.
DS1 is going as Annakin Skywalker, which by default, makes DS2 Yoda.
