Ok DH got me a sewing machine a couple years ago for xmas because I really really wanted one. I can probably do the basics. i.e. fix a hem or sew something simple like a pillow. However, I really want to learn how to make other things like clothes, crafts, and so forth.
Is there a place around where I could take some sewing classes that doesn't cost a fortune? I live in Anoka County. Any ideas you can give me would be a big help.
P.S. I have looked in the community fliers sent home and all the sewing classes are for teens or middle schoolers. Thanks!

I've seen "Class Info" posted at some of the stores such as JoAnn Fabrics. If you go to joann.com and look under Store Events they should have a list of classes.

The Sewing Lounge in St Paul has classes that are decent prices. www.sewinglounge.com/Treadle Yard Goods in St Paul also has a variety of classes but they fill up fast. treadleyardgoods.com

YouTube it's free -- LOL. I just learned by trial and error. If I got stuck I would google it or look for a YouTube video.

You can sign up for classes at JoAnn and get lessons for half price. There are coupons for that and special nights where sign up for any class is only half price. =) However, are you looking for how to sew or for how to use a sewing machine? There is a difference, to be sure! I just learn as I go. My mom bought me a sewing machine for my birthday two years ago and I'm self taught with what I do.

haha I made this post awhile ago! Thanks that would be great but I don't have any funds to do this right now. I do need to find some easy projects to work on where I can try out my sewing machine and see how things go. I think I will start with that and hopefully be able to take some classes over the summer or something. I would eventually like to make some of my own clothes or pj pants for the boys! Thanks everyone for your tips!
