Hey Mommas! DD has been waking up at night saying her legs hurt. It seemed to help when I gave her ibuprofen or when we kind of rub them a bit, but it happens every couple of weeks for a few nights in a row. DD is 3, will be 4 in Dec. Anyone else go through this with their little ones? She has been eating like a teenage boy the last couple days. Maybe she is just growing??

I had horrible growing pains as a kid. Ds1 did as well. Ibuprofen and leg rubs is what helped him. Heat also was helpful. I have one of those neck things with rice or oats or something in it. I could microwave it till warm and he would fall back asleep with the warm on his leg.

DD2 gets them really bad and we try to give her meds before bed on nights where she has had super busy days. There are still nights we miss and she wakes up in a lot of pain. It's hereditary! My mom, both her parents and I all suffered too!

my dd1 has them terribly as well. My dh remembers having them growing up. So far dd thinks that vitamins help her leg pains along with a little rubbing. So usually when she first wakes up in pain she will ask for her vitamin that helps her legs and then dh rubs them. Once in a while she will wake again and then dh rubs them more and gives her some ibuprofin.

I'm sure it is just growing pains. DD has them sometimes too. Not super bad though. I usually can tell she's going through a growth spurt by how much she eats. Oh man, does she ever eat during that! lol

Same here. Ian has gone through periods of getting them. Once they start, we try to remember to just give him IB at bedtime for a few nights.

Thanks Ladies! Sounds like I am doing things right. Last night I gave her medicine before bed and we didn't hear from her all night. My DH said he got them A LOT growing up. I remember it a little, but not much. Thanks again!

Growing pains sounds about right. DD has been doing the same over the last few months. Lots of sleep and Ibuprofen

Yep, sounds like growing pains! Both DH and I had them horribly as kids, *knock on wood* DS hasn't had any yet, but I'm sure its inevitable!

bananas!!! yes.. paired with gatorade. That's what my doc told me to take in college when I had Restless Leg Syndrome! And now I do it when I have aches in my legs and it works great!

I have a couple of friends whose kids have growing pains, too. NOT FUN. I feel for your kiddo!! If it gets really bad and doesn't ease up you may want to mention it to your pediatrician just to rule out arthritis (one of my friend's kids has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis).
