Hi Ladies! If anyone's looking for a fun family volunteering event in the west metro, on November 11 and 12 Kids Against Hunger-West Metro is having a packathon. It will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior, address 301 County Rd 19, Excelsior MN. The food will go to Haiti children and Somali refugees who travel to the Kenyan border for help. It's free to attend. Shifts are two hours long. Most of the work involves scooping food into bags, weighing it, sealing bags, and packing boxes. Hey Ladies! We still need 400 volunteers, yikes!!! So if you know of anyone who lives on the west side, or someone who has school-age kids and likes to volunteer, please pass along this info. We're especially needing volunteers to pack meals on Saturday morning from 8 am to 10 am (for you early risers) and 4 pm to 6 pm. It's a super fun event -- basically you stand around, package meals, and chat with the people around you. PLUS this is a HUGE thing for kids. For kids to know that their little hands have literally helped to SAVE LIVES is a huge boost. It helps kids feel empowered--they know that they can make a real difference in the world.
