Would DH be willing to do seasonal work, like overnight stocking at a retail store? With the holidays they could probably use some reliable people to do that and it would pay some bills. Good luck!

Dara He is looking at anything and everything. He is filling out applications and dropping off resumes today. I posted a message on Facebook and I have 2 people checking into things at their jobs. I am really hoping for something soon. We just paid rent but now sure how we are going to come up with the funds for next months. I am going today to donate plasma too. Hopefully there aren't any problems with that and I am able to donate.

Drink lots of water, Katie, before you go in. They like your veins all plumped up!

I really can't thank all of you enough. I am trying to stay positive. Just reading your responses brings tears to my eyes. I have been quite emotional lately. I have always been one to hold my emotions in and I just can't do it this time. I am scared. Hoping and praying DH will find something soon. I am just fortunate that I have him by my side and the good Lord up above. I know that God has a plan for us, I would really just like to know what it is sooner then later!
Well I better get to bed. I had to stay up late to write a paper for school as I have to give a speech tomorrow.

Oh wow that is a tough position to be in. We have been having some of the same issues since the company DH worked for for 12 years shut there door. He just got a job driving school bus in Plymouth through First Student. It's only part time but it's something. Also have your DH post his resume on StarTribune.com because DH has gotten several calls just from having his resume posted.
Good luck sweety and continue to remain strong.

Katie -take deep breaths and one day at a time. You will get through this....you have so many people who you don't even "know" supporting you. Keep your head up.

Katie, I'm glad he has a job, I'm really, really sorry that he hates it. That adds so much more stress to the day. (My DH has quit 6 jobs this year because he didn't like them!) Kudos to your DH for sticking in there. Maybe some extra hubs and lots of kind supporting words (Thanks for hanging in there for us, even if you hate it, I appreciate your sacrifice!) I will pray for "the right" job to come along!

My DH has quit and hated 2 jobs in the last 6 months. It's so hard to always be the one to go to work even when you don't particularly love your job either! I gues that's what makes you a team, huh?

Katie, I'm very sorry you're in this position! I'll pray for your family. As odd as it may sound, hearing stories like yours reminds me (and all of us) of how fortunate we are to afford the basics. I hope either your husbands job gets better or he finds something else soon!!

Thanks Megan. Ya know it is so easy to take for granted things that we have. When we were both working I honestly never expected for us to be in the situation we are in. We both had really good paying jobs and while I was grateful to have a job I never expected I would be laid off 6 months after my husband was, leaving both of us without work. Looking back though I would have never gone back to school to do something I want to do (nursing). I would have kept at a job that "paid the bills", one that I didn't get any satisfaction of doing.
Had to ask my parents to borrow money for rent today. Hard thing to do. DH still hasn't gotten paid and when he gets a check this week it will be short of paying rent because of the holiday. With all the things that have happened I still thank God every day for my family, for health and for the opportunity he has granted me with school. I know he has a plan for us, I just can't wait to see what it is. Our Christmas may not be filled with material things this year but we have each other and a really great family. So I am grateful...

I'll keep praying that your DH finds a better job. It is very hard to work a job that you hate but it shows a lot about his character that he is doing it anyway. We are in a similar position as my hubby doesn't like his job either. He works it because he has to but I know that he hates it. We were in your same exact position a little over a year and a half ago until he got this job.
I see you live in Ramsey, which isn't too far from me. Feel free to message me or let me know if you ever want to get together for dinner or coffee (on me!).. sometimes it helps just to get out of the house and take your mind off things once in a while.

Apryll you are too sweet. I would love to get together. You don't need to buy me coffee though. It would just be nice to get out of the house. The next 2 weeks are pretty crazy for me as I have finals for school but after that I would love to.
DH had an interview at another job yesterday and he just got word he is hired. He should be starting on Thursday. Praying this one goes better then the last one.
I tried switching plasma places because I originally went to CSL and there were drug deals going on in the waiting room. I went today to Biolife and they turned me away because the veins in my right arm were too small. They said I could try again in a couple months. So frustrating...

Definitely! I'm on break for school right now so I am free most days after work, just let me know what works for you.
Biolife turned me away because of my veins too. They told me to "gain weight and come back". Not sure how that would help since I don't think gaining weight makes your veins bigger? I have heard that drinking A LOT of water and lifting light weights can plump up your veins.
