Breaking point, need prayers * update*

I try to stay positive when it comes to the curves life throws at us. I will give you a little background. Two years ago DH was laid off, 2 months after that I gave birth to DS and 4 months after having DS I was laid off. I decided to go back to school because of the position we were put in. I had been working for an industry that was going downhill for 12 years. That is all I knew and I didn't have any college education. We ended up being forced to sell our house and move into a rental and file bankruptcy. I kept trying to stay positive about everything and DH and I stayed strong. DH finally got a new job 2 months ago. Things were looking up. After working for the company for about a month DH was laid off for a week and then was back to the job. Well today he was laid off again. There were 10 guys that were laid off along with him. He was told he will be asked back but they need to wait until around January when business picks back up. The only problem is that now his unemployment is out. This means all we have to live on is my unemployment and that isn't much. I am scared, scared that we won't be able to have a place to call home, scared that we will loose a daycare provider that we have come to love, scared that we will lose all. Sad that my kids won't have the Christmas or birthdays that they deserve (their birthdays are the same week of Christmas). All I could think about today is what can I sell. I am in panic mode and don't know what to do. I know I need to put my faith in God and that he has a plan for us. I just honestly didn't think things could get much worse then they already were.

Please pray for my family. Pray that my DH is able to find a stable job. He applied at a company last week before all this happened. Pray that I will be able to stay in school so that we won't be in this position in the future. Please pray that God makes his plan known soon!

Also if anyone knows of a company that is looking for a hard working man please let me know. He has been in construction for 14 years. He has been a carpenter, foreman, and an area supervisor.

****Update******

DH started a new job in construction this past Friday. So he has only worked 2 days. He called me on his break today in tears. He hates it. I feel so bad but he needs to keep the job. Without it we can't pay bills. He plans to keep looking so if anyone knows of anything please let me know.

Oh, Sweetie, I know the fear you are feeling! I will most definitely pray for you guys! I know a lot of towing companies are hiring getting geared up for winter. It isn't exactly his job field, but winter weather keeps them busy. UPS is looking for seasonal workers.

Thanks ladies. In the plowing business do you need a truck? DH drives a small car.

I am one to hold my feelings in (not good I know) but today I just can't stop crying. I feel bad because I don't wan DH to feel any worse then he already does. I know it isn't his fault. Today I just feel like a little pitty party.

When we need extra money we donate plasma. It pays $60 a week. We did that when my husband lost his job and that helped pay for the food. Both of you can go during the day at the same time and there is daycare at the one we go to. I have been doing it again to help pay for my son's ice time fees for hockey. I go to the one in Mounds view in the evenings. I do it on and off just to help pay for different things!! Good luck!! Thinking happy thoughts for you!!

When you donate plasma do you need an appointment or do you show up? Is it $30/person or $60/person? I looked up on line and I think you probably go to Biolife. Is that correct? I am going to look into this because every little bit helps. The website says we could donate twice a week. that would be either $120/week or $240/week if we both went. I could even get some of my studying done while donating.

Ooooohhhhh Katie.... Do I EVER feel your pain... DH has be in and out (mostly out) of employment since 2009. That's actually why I started selling PartyLite. I needed a second job to help make ends meet that was flexible around my full time job and my being a mom & wife. I also was able to start this business for free which was a huge factor for me.
Have you ever thought about doing direct sales to help supplement?

.... Okay... you're going to laugh at this one. I typed this whole thing and then noticed your signature. Looks like I've answered my own question Well... Know that I feel the pain you're feeling... Sometimes it helps to know that you're not alone.

I have been in this situation before....and with a college degree!

My thoughts are with you and your family....Also, I would encourage you to think outside of the box....like you are doing with the plasma idea! Consider other posititons that DH may be able to do. Think of things that you can do around your schooling...i.e., watching another child! And sometimes, you need to let your own daycare provider go. It isn't anything personal...it just becomes a necessity.

4 years ago, I was in a similar situation, and I took a seasonal customer service job. Nothing to do with my expereince or education. It turned out that it was the key to breaking in to the field that I had been trying to get in to. 3 months later, I was promoted to a different department more in line with my experience and salary expectations.

Katie, prayers for you that your DH finds something SOON. I would just add to talk to people about him needing a job ... so many jobs come through "networking" and it's who you know, not what you know. So if you do what you're doing here -- letting people know what he does and what he's looking for -- hopefully someone you talk to will have a moment of, "Oh, I know a company that needs help." In the meantime, hang in there (easier said than done, I know) and remember that you're not alone.
