Blessing bags for the homeless... I'm noticing more and more people standing on the off ramps, and in this economy it does not surprise me but there is a way to give back, even if you don't want to give money. Anyone can make a difference! In a gallon sized bag iclude items such as... a bar of soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste and toothbrush, tyleonl, applesauce cup, protein bars, sandwich crackers, small deoderant, juice box, plastic utensils, chapstick, comb, trailmix, granola bars, gum, bandaids, mouthwash, handwipes, playing cards... and maybe even a warm pair of socks or finger gloves, a small flashlight, and or mcdonalds or starbucks gift card anything you are willing to give..... We (husband and I) will be doing this! This winter especially. Who's with me?

Great idea! A lot of these toiletry items are available in the dollar section at target too if you are on a budget!

I have been wanting to do this and just keep a few in the van. Maybe seeing this now will help me get going at putting these together. I don't drive much since I work out of my home and when I do drive it is in town and Shakopee doesn't have many people on the corners but I think it will be great to keep for the times I really see someone in need

I have a feeling it's going to be a cold tough winter this year... I'm going to make a bunch for Thanksgiving time, and then for Christmas time.... then maybe some with 5 dollar gift cards to mcdonalds, gloves, socks and hand warmers for those bitter cold days.

Wow that is a great idea! I really wish I could do stuff like this more. Maybe if I ever figure out how to coupon I can start doing more things like this.

some of the stuff doesn't even have to be store bought... an old pair of wool socks, a pair of finger gloves you don't wear anymore.... a few snacks from your pantry, juice box etc. hygeine things (unless you have them from vacations and stuff) can be bought cheap in the mini size at any store or large size at the dollar store.

I LOVE this!!!! I've been known to start crying waiting at a red light while a homeless person stands there with a sign. DH is of the opinion that if they don't look horrible, they're not really homeless I'm a softy.

and that's not true at all.. they could have a car and still be homeless... they could have a place to shower a couple times and still be homeless.. they could have enough quarters to wash their clothing once a week and still be homeless... they could be fed and still be homeless... I'm a softy too.. and in these MN cold winters I bring them coffee and hamburgers from McDonalds on occasion... For this, I don't want to have the mentality that... ahhh. it's fine, someone else will help them... because what if they don't.

Oh Sarah, that's so awesome! What a great idea! I see the same man almost every day when I come to work. One night DH brought bologna and a loaf of bread and gave it to a guy. what else can you do? I'll remember this, Sarah. You are an Angel.
