DD2 had her allergist appt yesterday and they did a blood test instead of the scratch test. From what he told me the blood test gives them a number so they can see if she is growing out of the allergy. He is pretty sure it's a tree nut allergy so now we wait to see which ones!
He mentioned getting a safety sack to store her epi pen in for the diaper bag since we have DD3. I have the website but I 'm just wondering what others do or if you have found something local to use.
So if you have an epi pen for your child how do you store it for safety?

Langston keeps his Epi Pen in his backpack. I make sure that his backpack has an inconspicuous pocket to put them in. If another child is digging through my child's things and finds them and gets hurt...that is their problem...they shouldn't have been digging through his bag.
I check weekly to make sure that his EpiPen and Inhaler are still in place.
I also keep an EpiPen with the nurse at school and in my car.

We have an epi pen with the nurse at school and then I have a that came with the diaper bag that I have all the meds in, his epi pen, benedryl, tylenol. It is in the diaper bag and if he goes to a friends house without me that bag goes in his backpack that he brings with extra snacks in it.

For his second set of meds, the ones at school I have a cooler type bag (one I got from a fomula company or something like that). I keep it in there when it is not school season.

I have a question about Epi pens... are they something you can have just in case? My dd doesn't seem to having any allergies that we know of but I'm so worried that we'll find out she's severely allergic to bees or something the first time she gets stung and we won't have anything to stop the reaction. I want one on hand just in case something happens. Can I have one? If so, where do i get them?

I think you can only get them with a prescription.

You have to have a rx for an Epi Pen and you have to replace them when they expire, usually that is within a year.

If you are worried about a new reaction to something-- try to have benedryl on hand. From what I have heard, most often the reactions increase in severity, but someone can correct me on this. DS had reaction to Amoxicilin (rash) after almost finishing his second run with it--I was told that subsequent exposures could be worse and to make sure he does not get it or in the family of pennecillin

It's a mom thing-- prepare for the worst and hope for the best--- or murphy's law-- be prepared so you won't need it rather than not be prepared and need it
