My best friend and her boyfriend are trying to buy a house. They found a realtor and he helped them get pre-approved about 2 months ago. They are having a hard time finding a house and are extremely unhappy with their realtor. He is rude, get's them confused with other client's he has, and keeps giving them misinformation.
They want to fire him and hire someone new but are worried because since he did a pre-approval there was a hard pull on their credit and they don't want that to affect their future decision.
Does anyone have experience with this? I know hard pulls stay on your report for 2 years but how does it work with getting it removed, pre-approvals, etc. They can't be the first people to fire their realtor and go through someone else.

Well, and technically, they wouldn't 'fire' the guy. They didn't 'hire' him to begin with so they can go where ever they want. They should let the new realtor know about the hard pull (idk what that is). You're right, they aren't the first people to do that and if this guy is an a-hole he's probably been dumped before!

Multiple hard pulls do not affect your if they occur with a short time frame. If they are concerned about pre-approval-- find a lender and get it and let the agent know. Generally, realtors do not provide financing for homes so there should not be a reason for them to do so-- i don't think-- I can't remember and ours was only 3.5 years ago. But if there a several hards pulls or inquiries into your credit that are clustered together they treat it as one and do not punish you for trying to find the best rates. I think it is a month or two. Find a lender and get pre-approved by lender and that should limit how long they are being pulled for.
