Last night I noticed DD2's urine smelt stronger than normal and still smells strong today. I thought maybe she just wasn't drinking enough during the day...we switched to cups and she can drink out of them but seems to be drinking less during the day with cups then she did with sippies so I'm back to sippies to see if anything changes or could it be a UTI (I've never had to deal with a UTI so I'm clueless as to what to do and what symptoms I should watch for) Thanks!

Can you tell if her urine is cloudy or clear? Usually an infection will have a punget odor not just a strong odor. Is the color normal? Look for any red or orange. Hope that helps.

Any new foods? Has the color changed (darker , lighter, cloudy)? If it is darker, than look at dehydration, cloudy-- get checked for bacteria-- UTI, etc. Some foods can change the smell-- asparagus, etc

Well I think the odor is pungent and strong. Her urine seems too look clear in her diaper and it looked like the normal yellow color it is every morning this morning when she had a full diaper.

The only out of normal food she ate yesterday was spinach other than that she eats a lot of the same things daily.

I would increase her water intake and watch it for a few days.

sure too sure what else to suggest-- does she seem to be in pain? If so contact triage nurse at clinic and ask if they think you should bring her in

Cranberry juice would help flush out any bacteria.

Well I'm wondering if yesterday since she was doing a pee dance that she was trying to hold it in because this morning she woke up and everything was soaked in pee because she peed so much....poor girl. I'll keep an eye on her the rest of the day if it doesn't change by tomorrow to the doctor we go!

Could she be getting more teeth? I know when my DDs were getting teeth their urine stunk really bad!

One of the girls that I used to nanny for got UTI's. Her only symptom was a very strong odor as well, never had any other symptoms. I would definitely monitor it over the next couple days and see if it subsides, like Vic mentioned it might be the spinach. Good luck hun!

I haven't noticed any teeth trying to pop through....I will have to do a closer inspection when I brush her teeth in the morning. Thanks for the feedback ladies!
