Christmas will be here before we know it, I am trying to downsize the toys but am having a hard time doing so. We don't really have a ton of room to store them as his crib, bassinet and other huge baby things are in the rafters, but plan to have more kids in the future (?!?!) and would hate to get rid of them. Anyone have any suggestions or what do you guys do? Most are 1 year old toys like those play tables, blocks, laugh and learn stuff- so they do take up space!!! I am thinking too much into this but with 3 Christmas not including our OWN family our house will be full even tho I ask for NO toys hehe.

were kind of at that point too... we have bouncers and riding toys and play mats.. things that we aren't using right now that we have no room for. We were considering renting one of those small storage units.. the sliver sized ones just for transitional stuff. We dedicated one wall inour garage to organized bins... so we've put some of the toy stuff that fits in those in the garage, as well as all the baby clothes.
Anyway to put hooks up in your garage and hang some stuff up that way? or some sturdy shelves for the garage that you can organize into bins?

oh yah.. we have cubbies in our living room to store toys, and today I got rid of EVERYTHING that is not played with regularly... stupid mcdonalds toys, pieces that don't fit into anything anymore, ripped books and kept only what he played with. It looks so nice. And not long ago I went through all of his other toys that we keep in the "playroom" and got rid of anything that was a make shift toy like cool whip tubs, formula tins etc.. and I went by the rule, that if it didn't fit in one of those canvas bins, then we have to many and I have to either donate or throw more stuff away!

I was lucky, I was able to store stuff in parent's basement as were my siblings. when we needed them again we could get them. If they wanted to get rid of stuff they asked us and because I am done with kids (i think my sibs are too) they can donate it to crisis nursery or relatives that have new little ones

When my kids were younger we'd stow some stuff away and then try to rotate the toys out so that the old, boring toys became fun again. We're having the struggle now in that we're like 95% sure we're done having kids, but unexpected blessings happen and we're close to but not quite to the point of getting rid of all of our baby stuff. So we have a LOT of baby stuff that we're hanging on to but are fairly sure we'll never use again. (Sigh.) We have big clear bins of kids' stuff labeled with the corresponding ages so that we can see what's in there. But we have a decent amount of storage space so the big bins are OK (but perhaps you could put bins in your garage if there's room?).

We ended up renting a storage unit to store all of our baby stuff - crib, bassinet, bouncers, high chair, swing, all his outdoor toys for winter, and all the too small clothes. He's also out of room for toys in his room so I'm not sure what we're going to do come Christmas!

If you know someone with a baby you could lend them some of the toys with an agreement that you get them back in a year or so.
