My DD has a peanut allergy. This Christmas we are flying to Europe (8 hour trip). The airline assured us that they will not serve peanuts three rows in front and three rows back of us. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this? Is the distance sufficient enough, in your opinion? I know there is not much I can do but take a chance (and have the epi pen ready in case there is a reaction). Thank you.

Are you sure the epi-pen will not have issues going through security? in other countries too? If you have done it recently, I'm sure you're up to date on regulations. I don't have direct experience, but if she is very sensitive, make sure you have wipes and /or hand sanitizer to wipe stuff down (tray, etc)

There is no problem with taking the epi-pen on board and should not be any issues bringing it into another country. Thanks for the reminder about wiping the trays.

I haven't flown Internationally in years...but when I did, I had some serious issues with cigarette smoke.
Having had a severe peanut allergy since I was a child (before food allergies were all the rage), when I found myself surrounded by peanuts, I would instinctively cover my mouth and nose. Perhaps you could bring a "surgical mask" to help protect against the smell and other airborne irritants.

Thanks, Jazzy. I might bring along a surgical mask, just in case.
