I have struggled with my weight all my life. I can’t say that I have been extremely overweight, but then again, if you go by my doctor’s BMI calculations, I am. I just seem to carry it quite differently than most do. After meeting my wonderful BF, going back on BC, and getting into the realms of a ‘comfortable relationship’ I seemed to gain 25 pounds. These are pounds that I worked very hard at getting off before I met my BF. Recently I started noticing that a lot of my work clothes aren’t fitting. I’m down to three pairs of pants that I can wear during the week. Yikes! This has definitely affected my confidence and self-esteem big time. Thankfully, my BF says he can’t even notice it and he loves me how I am. Awe! But I don’t love myself. And if Mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy. LOL! Anyway, turning a short story long, I had a recent appointment with my wonderful doctor and she informed me of this study that Fairview is conducting. They are evaluating the Can Do program that they have in cooperation with Philips Electronics who produces an activity monitor. The study only costs $20 and is a yearlong commitment. You are provided a personal health coach who you will have three appointments with and then constant contact via phone and email. It’s a randomized study where you either do the Can Do program, the Philips activity monitor, or both. I am hoping that I will be placed in the group where you are doing both. I can use all the help and motivation that I can get! I joined this study because I felt like I didn’t have any other options…I mean, how could I say no when it was a win-win situation? Wish me luck ladies, pray for my weight loss success and bear with my ranting posts throughout the next year! And most of all cross your fingers I get thrown into the good group. Oh, lastly, has anyone ever participated or known someone who has participated in this program? Did they have luck with it?

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!! I haven't heard of anyone who participated, but it sounds like a good deal! And after the one-year commitment is up you can do the dual program if you think it'll work for you, right?

You have a "CAN DO" attitude -- you took a proactive step! All the best to you!
