My DD will be five in January. We told her she could have her first birthday party. Any advise on where or what to do? I looked at Pump it Up, but is was like over 300 bucks! Anyone ever have a party at Maple Grove Community Center or the Children's Museum?

Yeah, Pump It Up is crazy expensive! I think Children's museum might be too. Nature Centers are often a reasonably priced and really fun option. What is she interested in? How many kids were you thinking?

She likes Karate, reading, swimming and playing. I am figuring around 10 kids (her daycare friends and her niece and nephew) So age range will be 2 years old to 5 years old.

Her karate studio might do something. We've been to a few Tae Kwon Do parties, where they teach the kids some basic moves, play some games and then have a place to eat.

Community centers usually have decent party rates. We've been to two birthday parties at the Shoreview community center. They have a big pool with some slides and then they have a room that you can bring in cake & food.
We had DS 4th birthday at Eagles Nest in New Brighton. They have very affordable party room rates and you can also bring in your own food & cake.

We did McDonalds. Let the kids run and play and it was inexpensive. DD had fun, and all her friends were there. It's nothing spectacular but to a 5 year old, it's AWESOME!
