I would like some recommendations on books for kids on the changes they go through. I have two boys and I want them to understand what changes are happening to their bodies. My oldest is starting to mention all the hair all over his body and they are requesting deoderant and body spray (I think more because they want to be more grown up like dad rather then they think they stink).
I don't know how to answer these questions and DH gets kina embarrassed and uncomfortable talking about certain things but they are getting to be that age where he is going to have to discuss a lot of uncomfortable things with them. So anyway I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks!

OMG, DH def has to step up. It's a good thing they are asking for the deodorant, etc. Better than having to tell them they need it! And when he starts showering A LOT, and taking like 45 minutes showers....its def time to tell them what's going on. We bought a book about it and had them read it. Then DH took them out in the car (where they can't go anywhere) and had a talk with them. Once I knew he had talked about stuff I jumped on it too. I just didn't think Mom should initiate that conversation.

I'm not sure what I will all do when DS gets that old-- I would hope that DH would have a useful conversation with him.
Another a lighter note, Judy Blume wrote a boy book similar to "Are you there God, It's me, Margaret" I just can't remember the title.
For my DD age 10, I found an AMerican Girl book and the care and keeping of you---takes about teeth, emotions, hair care, skin care, and body changes.

How old are your boys? My oldest is 9..almost 10...I'm terrified of that day.

Our family likes this series: It's So Amazing says it is geared toward kids 7-10, but kids are all different, and many kids would be ready for it earlier than that. Ditto for It's Perfectly Normal, which says it is for age 10 and up. I think it's the second one, that talks about body changes that can start at age 9. They are bigger books with chapters on lots of different aspects of bodies, sexuality and puberty. We have found it's not something our son sits down and reads all at once, but rather that he reads specific chapters he is interested in, and then goes back to it when he has a question or wants to review. There's a version for very young kids too, called It's Not The Stork. I don't remember the age it's geared toward. We never got it because by the time I discovered the series my son already knew everything in it and was looking for something more, but it could be a good starting point for very young kids.

Thanks ladies those are actually really helpful I will have to check those out.
To answer your Q my boys are 8 and 10 years old so I think both the books might work!

I agree - Find a great book! We did that for DD (it was the American Girl one) and like Sharon said it wasn't necessarily a sit down and read the whole thing but more like a reference when she had a question.
