So I have had ear pain for the last few months....not really anything major just an slight irritation but this past week it has gotten really bad. It is only in my left ear and it stretches down my face (my left jaw hurts) and I have pain in the left side of my throat only. The pain is making my headaches a lot worse and I feel the pain stretch around my left eye too.
My cousin had ear pain and finally went in for a sinus infection. I am used to getting a lot of sinus infections the last few years and it doesn't feel like the same thing. I can usually tell right away that I have a sinus infection because i feel it under both my eyes and around my nose and get super dizzy and feel really congested but have a dry nose.
I am not feeling congestion, my nose is a little dry but because of the cold it has felt a little runny too. I think I should go to the Dr but I was part of a program that was paying my co-pays and whatever my insurrance wouldn't pay and that has expired. I am waiting on the new app to come in the mail so I can reapply and I can't afford the co-pay right now. Anyway, I just wanted to see if any of you have had problems like this and can give me some insight. Thanks!

What about a tooth on that side of your mouth?

I thought that at first too because I used to have slight ear pain before I got my wisdom teeth pulled but none of my teeth hurt it's just the left side of my jaw. I don't feel any throbbing or anything in my teeth.

It could also be an ear infection. If there is fluid in your ear you could try a couple drops of alcohol (rubbing) in your ear. That will help get any fluid out.

I have had this exact problem literally since September. Mine actually started with pain on the left side of my throat, and then travelled up to my left ear. I went to the doctor, she said I had fluid in my ear, but no infection. She basically said it was post nasal drip that was causing my sore throat. I got a nasal rinse, and did that for a long time but haven't seen any improvement. Unfortunately since I don't have insurance I can't go back to get it checked again, but just wanted to let you know that I've had the same symptoms. I drink a lot of hot beverages, and that seems to help a little. Good luck! Let me know what you find out lol.

What is TMJ?
Well I did decided to go in last night. She didn't see any fluid or anything. She gave me antibiotics and told me to take those and if I still have ear pain to go in and see the ENT. Which is probably a good idea considering I can't even get a small cold without getting a sinus infection lately. So I guess that's my next step and still nothing I need to make a dentist appointment and see if that has something to do with anything.

Glad you went in and got antibiotics! Hopefully those work for you and you get some relief soon. My ear pain has stopped, but I still have pain on the left side of my throat..it's so annoying!!

I could have written your post. I went to the dentist because they did strep tests and other stuff at the doctor. My dentist referred me to the u of mn to see an oral pathologist. I am still waiting for my appointment as I couldn't get in until Dec 14th. It got so bad that I couldn't even eat on the right side of my mouth. The pain for me is coming where my wisdom tooth would be (had them removed over 10 yrs ago) I started thinking maybe the pain from my gums was making my throat sore. Hoping it is nothing. its been stressing me out and I have finals for school on the 15th.

Wow keep me posted on what it is. My ear pain has minimized but it is still there to a small degree. I had my wisdom teeth pulled too about 8 years ago.
