We are contemplating getting something that would allow us to stream movies and television. We just got high speed internet, and can finally watch Hulu. I would like the ability to watch TV shows I like when I have time to do so. We can't record anymore and I don't watch a lot of TV, but I miss being able to keep up with a show or two if I choose to. At the same time, since Blockbuster closed we miss renting movies. We have used Redbox but they don't have as much of a selection.
We like various PBS shows. I like Glee and Modern Family.
I have a basic aversion to paying for television.
We figure eventually we will want a Blu Ray player since DVD's will phase out.
So do we want -
A Blu Ray that streams? Apple TV? Hulu plus? Netflix?
Some combination?

I have Netflix and LOOOOVE it!! I only have the instant queue. I don't get DVDs through the mail. It's $7.99 a month and gets taken directly out of my account every month. I've never used any of those other ones so I can't really compare. But I would definitely recommend Netflix

So far that's unanimous. I asked on FB too and every response I got was to get Netflix. They have a free 30 day sample deal right now, so I think we will try it.
Do you have a box specifically for that? Or how do you get it?
My wife JUST ran out and bought a Blu Ray that was on sale that is both Netflix and Hulu plus capable.

We are huge Netflix fans over here too. We do 2 DVDs at a time as well as streaming, and its around $20/month. You can choose different packages based on your needs. They are getting much better with their streaming content, especially for tv shows. instant movies can be hit or miss.

Netflix!
We only do the instant streaming. We looked around and it seemed Netflix had more instant options. You can watch it on your computer, if you have a gaming system you can load it from there, or if your tv is capable you can stream it from the tv.

We've decided we are not getting any video game systems for now. I'm just not ready to go down that road. So the Blu Ray machine was a nice option - I figure we'll want one soon anyway, since DVD's are phasing out.

totally agree with Netflix! We do not pay for tv so all we have is basic channels which works great for us but we love having the option of Netlix for when my husband and I sit back and watch some shows/movie together.
