Hi...I'm LauraC and I have a teenage daughter...*HIII LAURA*
Most of you know from our MLM days that my DD can be quite the handful! If I would have had her first she would be an only child right now! My DH agrees!
Last Friday the Asst Principal called me and said my daughter was involved in a fight. Another girl came up to her and started calling her all kinds of nasty names. A bi!ch, a wh0re, and, the worst imo, the C word. She shoved DD and DD pushed her back to walk away from her when the girl popped her in the nose. The girl got suspended for 10 days and DD has in school suspension for a day.
Good grief. Tell me this too shall pass and you all have wonderful relationships with your DD's!

Oh LC. lol....I hate to laugh at this, but hey...sometimes you have to!
And best of all....at least she tried to walk away. Good for her. As for the other girl....10 days out of school? Well...she's saying "thanks for the vaca" right about now!

This to shall pass LC! HUGS I am so glad she defended herself though so that maybe this ugly menace will stop. We were just talking about bullying with the IL's the other weekend and DH said he was bullied until he kicked the crap out of the boys who were doing it. Of course it was off school property. No way he could do that today! I am not looking forward to these days at all!

Ugh, sorry you have to deal with that. I don't know what I would do, I think it would involve driving slowly by this other girls house waiting for her to come outside. lol Keep the lines of communication open and let her know she did the right thing. I am sure you have done that, though! ;-) You're a good Momma.

Good for her LC! The girl deserved to be pushed, dd did NOT deserve to be punched or punished.

From what I hear (from other sources too). Simply defending yourself gets you in trouble too. So I guess you can be bullied, but don't fight back or you will get into trouble...what is the world coming to?

So sorry to hear this. What was she supposed to do to pass by? I don't understand why she was even punished in this case. Did you ask the school why she received the punishment and what they suggest she do to get by the girl if the girl is blocking her way?

The AP told me that she also engaged in the argument, which I'm sure she did, and the name calling so she also was punished. If they would have pressed charges, the girl would have gotten assault and DD would have gotten disorderly conduct.

Soooo, I'm thankful no charges were pressed and she has to sit in a room all day long with other offenders. Good grief!
I keep reminding myself that she is so much more than this. She's a sweet girl, loving, funny, friendly, who had something terrible happen to her and she is dealing the best she can.
This too shall pass!

Exactly. Also remember that following a trauma, development can stop or slow down for a while. She may not mature mentally and emotionally quite as quickly as typical. Patience Mom.
